Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Hi

How is your Saturday going?  In between making this card I have been washing and cooking lunch and making arrangements for this evening.  As I worked I started to wonder how you spend your typical Saturday?

I was quite excited when I found this image because it was unexpected, some characters are more common than others, and Jack and his beanstalk were quite a find.

I must apologise for my bad photographic skills, the backing card I chose has a mirrored quality and it has caught the light up in the top left hand corner - the bottom right is a more realistic representation of the card, I hope it has not spoilt your view of the card.

You can find Jack and his Beanstalk at Mo's Digital Pencil, the image is called They Grow so Fast.

After colouring the image with Promarkers, I mounted it on silver mirri and dark green card.  After fixing it to the shiny card I added some twine and a button.  I then cut the swirls with Spellbinder dies and added the green gems.  I also added a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

I will be back again in the morning with my final posting for this challenge.

  1. Hi Dionne
Oh WOW I have to say. Super card! Do not at all worry about the photo. For some reason how it caught the light it made the whole card look magical. What a find that image! You must be well pleased because when I find something I really love I am over the Moon with my find. Love the way you framed the image, it kind of looks like I am looking through the mirror. Great twine work again and those die cuts are super too.
The sun got me out of bed today and I have been crafting for a bit. I am making a Christmas decoration. I saw a challenge on a blog with theme "favourite holiday + colour teal "and decided to make myself a Christmas decoration. Colour teal seems to be a tricky colour because it is one of the colours I have never used in my crafting. I have absolutely nothing in teal, not even a promarker or a ribbon that would come in teal. Just finding something in teal colour was a challenge itself.
Dionne, I do not have a typical Saturday. All my days are pretty much the same so sometimes I do not even register it is weekend.

  2. I love how you have mounted this image and framed it with those vine like swirls. (I clearly need those dies!). Great to find the image - my eldest son is called Jack and this would be perfect. Sorry you are getting to the end of this series - they have been great.
