Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Postcards

Hi

There is a new challenge at Crafty Boots Chsllenges, for the next two weeks the theme chosen by the very talented Lisette is 'POSTCARDS'.

I use to quite enjoy sitting on the beach writing postcards to family and friends at home but no one seems to send postcards anymore, I guess that is because it is so much easier to keep in touch via our notepads and phones.  But they are not the same as finding a pretty picture postcard in the morning post.

This challenge has given me the opportunity to play with some of the stamps I have recently purchased.

This poppy stamp, which is called Ickle Poppies, came from IndigoBlu.  I stamped it on white card and coloured it with Promarkers.  I then mounted it on some gold mirri and Rich Razzleberry card.  The papers are from a K & Co stack by Tim Coffey and the little gems are from my stash.

I recently spotted these postcard stamps at Little Claire's, there are ten postcard stamps in a set and I bought both the Postcard Greetings set and the Christmas Postcards set.

I even made a matching envelope using the Tim Coffee papers and another recent addition to my craft room, a We Are Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board - not bad for my first attempt.

The rest of the Design Team have come up with some very different ways of interpreting the 'Postcard' theme, why not pop over to the Craft Boots Challenges website and have a look at their inspirational pieces and enter your own take on the Challenge whilst you are there?

Swing Your Pants

'Swing your Pants' was the catch phrase for a couple of 'comedians' on a Saturday morning TV programme when I was younger, I don't suppose you remember them?

I hope the start to the week was not too bad for you.  Mine was fairly hectic and I completely forgot to post this birthday card!

This cute little rabbit is another of my vintage stamps, I coloured it with Promarkers and then mounted it on Silver mirri card and some gorgeous pink glitter card.  The backing paper and ribbon are from my stash whilst the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

I hope the rest of this week goes well for you.

Baby Fairy

Friday at last!  Over at Crafty Boots Challenges the current challenge is 'Flowers'.  I find that flowers tend to feature rather heavily in my crafting, just like in this card.

This adorable little creature is one of Mo Manning's Baby Fairies.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added a touch of glitter to the fairy wings.  The papers and buttons are from my stash.

I hope you have a good weekend.

Floral Delight

Hi

A new challenge starts at Crafty Boots Challenges today, the theme for the next two weeks is FLOWERS.

This is one of those themes with so much potential, should I use a floral stamp or make a card to show case some of my wonderful WOC flowers made from mulberry papers.  In the end I decided to make my own flowers using a Martha Stuart hydrangea punch.

This image from Teddy Bo & Co is called 'Love Swing'.  I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on silver mirri and pink Centura Pearl card.  The backing paper is from a Polka Doodle CD.  I cut the flowers from a variety of card - silver mirri, glitter card, Centura Pearl to give different colours and textures and I put a jewel brad at the centre of each.

The rest of the Design Team have had some fantastic inspirational projects.  Please pop over to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog to see for yourself and to enter your own projects.

Good luck.

Playing in the Sand

Welcome to my blog and thank you for taking the time to visit today.

Regular visitors will remember me saying on Wednesday that the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is Summer Holidays and that this had reminded me of some postcards which I made a couple of years ago.

Here is another of those postcards, which I have up-cycled into a card.

This image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called Kai in the Sand, isn't he the cutest?

When I made the postcard I mounted the image on some silver mirri card and cut it to the standard postcard size of 4 ¼” x 6”. Then I coloured the image with Promakers, after which I added some Glossy Accents to the beach ball to give it a high gloss plastic look and I created the effect of sand with Flower Soft.  The card's backing paper is from Dove Craft and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

I hope you have a great weekend.
