Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Puppy Love

It's the end of May already and another month over.  It was a good one by many scores: three Bank Holidays, one coronation, our place in the Eurovision Song Contest has returned to where we are use to being and this is my 14th blog post - which is pretty good going for me.

My card today features a sweet West Highland Terrier.  The image, tartan backing card and paws are from an old Kanban Crafts kit purchased from QVC.

The pearlescent and silver mirror card are from my stash, as is the sentiment.

I hope you had a good month.

And Yet More Sparkle

Do you remember that black sparkly cardigan?  Well, I did it again.  I bought the yarn for the sparkle and not the colour!  I bought them at the same time and I guess my head was not on correctly!!

This pattern is one I have made a couple of times before and probably looks far more sweet in the powder blue in this post.  This is a larger size and therefore has noticeably more buttons than the pale blue one.  I realize that you cannot relly see the sparkle in the yarn from these photos.

I had some of the yarn left over, so I made my young niece a beanie hat an some mittens out of the yarn.

My niece has quite a small head for a girl her age and the hat I made was too large and I had to make a second .... perhaps her mum would like the larger beanie hat.

Until the next time.

Friends Hug Your Heart

Good friends do indeed hug your heart.  Really good friends can be hard to find but when you find one hang onto them.

I have a quick and easy card to share with you today. The elements for this card are all from a Hunkydory Adorable Scorable pack called 'Animal Crackers'.

I said it was quick and easy, rather like this post.

Have a great weekend.

Premature Babies

I have been keeping a secret from you because I cannot work out how to break the news to you.  Over the past twenty/twenty one months I have been making A LOT of premature baby clothes, which means a lot of posts.

I lost my sister in 2021 and one of the last things she asked me to do was to make some premature baby clothes for premature and born sleeping babies.  How could I refuse.  However, during the COVID pandemic the charity she wanted me to send them to has closed.  If any of my many visitors knows of another charity in the UK that I can send them to, I would be most grateful if they could leave me a message with their address.

This is the first of my premature baby clothes post, this pretty pattern is one I found on the Dolliebabies website.  It is Knitting Pattern 015.

I know that most of you are not big knitting fans.  I will try not to make all of my posts about premature baby clothes - or even the doll's clothes I have been making, which I have not told you about yet.  Sorry, I thought I would rip both plasters off quickly!

Have a good week.

Balloon Anniversary

I don't think there is actually a rubber anniversary but after all these years I struggle to come up with a new Blog Title every time!

New metal die alert, I have had those new dies out again and the bubble spray die is possibly my favourite.

I used gold card and silver mirror card for the heart shaped balloons and anniversary sentiment.  I slipped some red glitter board behind the bubble spray die.

Lemon Drop

I have another new born cardigan with a matching beanie to share with you.  Well, I say new born but I never make the first size because new born babies grow so fast and everyone else buys new born, so I make the next size up.

This pattern came from my recent discovery - The Dolliebabies website, this is pattern number 013.  I discovered this website when I was searching for premature baby patterns.  Dolliebabies have a lot of pretty patterns and the people are so helpful and generous.

I made this set in lemon double knit from James C Brett.

Have a good day friends.

Blue Dragon

I have been playing with my new metal dies again, I am having so much fun with them.

This beautiful Chinese Dragon was part of a four set of dragon dies, which I found on Amazon.  I cut the dragon from some really lovely pearlescent card, I also backed the card with the same pearlescent card and cut the sentiment from a scrap of card I had left over.

The bubble spay and sentiment dies are also a recent buy from Amazon.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Midnight Black

I hope that you had a good weekend and those celebrating Mother's Day yesterday were all spoilt rotten.

I have another cardigan to share with you today.  I suppose black is an unusual choice of colour for a young girl but, when I bought the yarn, I suppose I was looking more at the sparkle in it then the actual colour!

This is one of my vintage patterns from Ebay.  This pattern is one of my niece's mums favourites and I have made it a number of times in the past.

I hope you have a good week.

Welcome Little Girl

You may recall me telling you a couple of days ago that my niece had asked me to make a couple of new baby outfits for her sister-in-law who was expecting.  The baby is due any day now, so I have made a card to go with the cardigans.

The elements for this sweet little card came from a very old Kanban Crafts pack, which I purchased from QVC many years ago.

Thank you for visiting today.  If you have to time please feel free to leave a comment, I would love to hear from you.

Pretty in Pink

At about the same time as my sister asked me to make a couple of baby sized cardigans for her friend who was about to become a granny for the first time, my niece asked me to make the same for her sister-in-law, who had just announced that she was pregnant.  They had shared with the family that they knew they were expecting a little girl and so I chose some pretty pink yarn for this set.

In all, I made her three little cardigans with matching beanie hats, this is the first of them.  The pattern is from a company called Dolliebabies, which I recently found them on the internet when I was looking for premature baby clothes, they have some many pretty patterns.

The yarn I used was a baby soft double knit by James C Brett which had been left over from some other project. Come to think of it the pretty pink buttons were also left over from something or another I had made in the past.

Elephant Love

I hope you had a good weekend,  I certainly did.  We went off to visit with friends for a few days.

I have a quick and easy card to share with you today.  The elements for this card are all from a Hunkydory Adorable Scorable pack called 'Animal Crackers'.  Only the sentiment and ribbon came from my craft stash.

I added a drop of Glossy Accents to the ladybirds, making them stand out a little and I popped a little bitty bit of ribbon to the tag.

I hope you have a good week.

Another Stripey Cardigan

A few weeks ago I posted a cardigan I had made for my great niece.  I made this cardigan in the same super soft yarn by Rico Baby Dream DK ..... just in a different jumble of colours.  I used a pattern  from BizyFingers.

I love the buttons I found for this cardigan but I just could not get a good photograph of them to show you.  Each button is different and consists of a clear button with pale blue striations running through it.

Because of all of the colour changing it is difficult to make out the pattern, so here is a close-up.

Thank you for visiting today.

Time to Celebrate!

I have been playing with my new dies again.

You may have noticed that many of my recent cards are made with dies of pre-printed toppers, this is because I have ongoing printer problems inasmuch as my laptop will not link with my printer - I have tried fix the problem but with no success, my best bet now is to find a teenager.  If anyone should have one with time on their hands I should be grateful if you could send them round.

Nonetheless, I am really enjoying experimenting with all of these dies.

I went for a very CAS look for this card, I think it works really well with this spray die.  I put some of the magenta card behind the white card before adding the sentiment - which was cut from the same magenta card.

Nice and simple.

Little Mint Green Cardigan

A pinch and a punch, it's the first of the month Mrs Beez!

I've said it before and, no doubt, I'll say it again, but where is this year going?  Before we know it, it will be Christmas in July.

Last week I shared with you a little cardigan I had made for my sister to give to her friend who is about to become a grandmother for the first time.  I mentioned that I had made a second cardigan for her to give to her friend ...

Here's a close-up, so you can make out the design.

This pattern is one of my vintage ones from Robin Bambino, number 2496. This pattern is one of my favourites, I have made it countless times because it is quick and easy to make - especially when you are in a hurry to make something for your sister to give to a friend.

Have a great day.
