Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Wise Men

Thank you for sticking with me for my annual December marathon posts.  I managed to get my camera out yesterday evening, so I have something to share with you today.

There is a postal strike in the UK at the moment and, whilst it is only supposed to be on certain days this month, we have not received any post for over two weeks.  I have been asking around and it seems that we are not the only ones.  I am therefore starting to wonder whether there is any point in sending Christmas cards this year.  Are you going to send any cards this year?

With my photography being up to date, my problem now is which to share with you today.  Let's start with a couple of Hunkydory Box Pops.

These little card kits come from their Festive Friends set.  I will be honest with you, I found this two difficult to stick together.  Honkydory recommend that you use red tape, but my red tape was not strong enough, nor were any of my other glues.  I got into a sticky mess and so did the cards.  As you can see,  I eventually got them to stay in place but they feel very fragile.

This one is called Noel the Nutcracker.  I blinged him up a bit with a few flat backed gems.

This one is Sage the Wise Man.  I also added a few gems to his costume.  My youngest niece is now old enough to know not to pick them off and poke them where they shouldn't go!

Elf time!  Do you remember when we checked in on the elves Daisy and Danny yesterday they had left some artificial snow for the children to make snowmen.  Well, I managed to get hold of a photograph of their snowman.

If the weather forecast is to be believed, they could soon be making snowmen from the real thing.  It certainly feels cold enough for snow.

Let's see what Daisy and Danny got up to last night .....

Oh look, they are getting ready for the football this evening.  Who knew that the elves held their own World Cup?

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  1. Someone posted a link last month to all the strike days so for the first time for a long time I posted all cards off end of November-just one more to go because I was waiting for the address.Mind you have less and less to make each year and I bought a few! WOW your shaped cards are brilliant! I must admit I find the red tape is not as strong as it used to be and sometimes add glue too.Love the Elf snowman and little football kits

    1. Yesterday I felt very despondent about whether there was any point in sending my Christmas cards, if the rest of the country was as behind as us in getting mail, it seemed unlikely that any of my cards would arrive before Christmas. Then this morning we had a postal delivery, so I quickly addressed a few family cards and took them to post when we went shopping. I need to get the rest written in time for posting on Monday.

I had a stroke of luck yesterday. I had misplaced my address book, I had not seen it since I address that parcel to you. Yesterday I was looking for something else and found the address book in my knitting bag of all places. Now I have no excuss for not getting on with addressing my cards.

When I go back from shopping today, both of the heads had dropped off those Box Pops, very disappointing. I am in two minds whether to bother sticking them back on to send to the children.

      Have a lovely weekend.

  2. These are fabulous, so professional and you wouldn't know there had been a sticky mess. How great that the elves are ready for the World Cup game. They did well with the snowman too. The good news here is that all my cards are finished, written and posted and all my parcels are on their way. Whither they reach their destination before Christmas remains to be seen! Royal Mail deliveries have been getting through whereas Evri seem to be holding my incoming parcels to ransom! xxx

    1. Not quite as professional as they may look (check out my last comment to Carol above). I do not think I will buy them again.

I wonder how the elves got on with their World Cup game? I hope they did better than England!

I managed to get a few of my cards in the post today and plan to write the rest tomorrow. I hand deliver close family, so I know they will get there safely and before Christmas.

Enjoy your Sunday, put your feet up you deserve it, now you have your cards in the post.

PS Whilst I have all of my card making stuff out I am thinking of carrying on and making the cards for next year!

  3. Loving your Wise Men, what a shame you got frustrated with the red tape. When I am making boxes, even my cards I always use Hi-Tack glue, it dries quickly, sometimes too quickly, but it certainly STICKS.
Your Elves made a fun snowman too.

    1. Many thanks for the top tip Faith. I have Hi Tack somewhere but did not think to use it. Kicking myself now. (I have actually been thinking of deconstructing the heads and using a small rivet or brad to keep the head in place. )
