Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Stockings for the Family

Ummm, a very strange thing happened on the way to uploading these photographs, Blogger kept loading them in reverse order.  It's never done that before, in the end I had to load them one at a time.

It seems that the older I get the longer it takes me to make each Christmas card but I do now have a small pile of cards. I am going to need about 6 times as many, but at least it is a start.

All of the following cards are from the Hunkydory Adorable Scorable kit called 'Contemporary Christmas'.

These kits come with the main image and matching background papers, they do have some sentiments, but on this ocassion I used one from my stash.  The bauble dies are also from my stash.

All I needed to add to this card from my stash was the sentiment.  Although, I did pop out the central image from it's frame and raise it with Pinflair Glue Gel to give it height.

I used my Presscut die to make this stepper card and I created the striped background using washi tape.  The frame, trim and sentiment are from the kit and again I raised the central image.

Taken from the side so you can see the 'steps' and how the centre image is higher than the frame.  I have to be careful not to do this to too many cards like this because the added dimension increases the postage costs.

And finally, this card base was actually one of the backing sheets.  I added the die cut deer and the sparkly tree, the bow and sentiment were from my stash.

I have one more card to share with you today, but it is not one I made.  This beautiful card was created by my dear friend Carol, better known to most of you as The Crafty Stamper.  This was the first card we received this year, and so far it has proved to be the only one, thanks to the postal strikes.  This really is not a very good photograph of this card and I strongly urge you to pop over to her blog to get a better look.

Time for our nightly peek at what those cheeky elves have been up to.

Clearly Coco and Louis felt the need to apologise for the behaviour of those naughty elves on the previous night, they left the children inflatable Santa and Snowman decorations.

Hopefully I shall be back again tomorrow.

    1. Haha Carol, you crack me up sometimes. Although, I really can understand why you gave up making any more Christmas cards because I have spent all afternoon looking at my remaining sheets of images seeking inspiration and I have got nothing! The images are lovely but I cannot come up with something different, something I've not done before (actually I lie, a couple of the images would make nice invisible cards but I cannot find my sheets of clear plastic.)

I do not understand why these two elves feel that they need to apologise, they did not make all of that mess with the flour, that was the other three naughty elves. Poor Coco and Louis would not say boo to a goose!

    2. What a beautiful set - I can't pick a favourite. I do love the snowy deer, but then the pink on the other cards makes me all nostalgic. That washing tape is superb. Those elves look genuinely sorry! xxx

    3. Thank you Mrs Beez, you say the nicest things. These deer are the rest of the set from the day before, It's funny with some topper sets, sometimes I can make half a dozen cards and with other sets I can only make 2 cards.

I do not know how my niece manages to convey expressions on an inanimate face. It was the expression of horror as they watched the naughty elves the other night which got me!

      Have a good evening.
