Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Reindeer Christmas Cards

Some thought it would never happen, at times I was inclined to agree with them, but I have at last started to make my Christmas cards.

This year I decided to buy some Hunkydory toppers with matching backing papers, so some of the decisions were made for me.  I have also added bits and bobs from my crafty stash.

The toppers and papers, on average, come come in sets of three or four, so I thought that would be how I would share them with you.

If I can take you back to the beginning of the month when I mentioned that my best friend and I have been exchanging Advent Calenders for more that 25 years.  Over the last few years I have been making covered boxes to put her daily gift into.  However, my friend never fails to find the most amazing and innovative containers to put her gifts in.

Meet Rudolf ...

But I am such a lucky girl because I also received an Advent Calender from another friend.  My friend Lisette made this gorgeous Advent Countdown.

Made from a matchbox, which was covered in Christmas papers and filled with 23 chocolate beans and one delicious chocolate Santa - well, I assume it is delicious, I haven't actually eaten it yet!

A section on the top of the matchbox lifts up to reveal a countdown to Christmas Day, isn't that clever?

The little matchbox came with a beautiful Anna Griffin handmade card which gave instructions on how to use the Advent Calender.

Stunning card, it really made me wish that I had bought this kit when I had the chance.

  1. Love those reindeer cards. The reindeer images are very classy and I love the coordinating rich papers. I can imagine they are even more stunning in real life. Love that Rudolf basket. Very surprised to see the match box and thank you for your kind words. Xx

    1. I have been making cards for the last 3 days and feel quite cross-eyed now. Almost finished now, I have made almost 70 cards, I hope that will be enough.

Please. Don't let me leave it so late next year!

    3. Going to have to do something that's for sure. By the way there is a typo in the above, it was only neary 60 that I have made.

    4. I've been thinking about your idea and it could well be doable. I have already invested in a Stampin' Up bundle for next year called something like 'So Many Stars'. However, you need to be a bit artistic so 60 cards may take a while. BUT - the other day Crafty Stamper Carol featured a penguin stamp on her bog and I think it would make a fabulous monochrome card, just need to get a ton of silver glitter card, some mirri board and some black and white bp and hey presto 60 identical cards. I just need to give them to my sister to look after during the move so I don't loose them. You could definitely be on!
