Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

A Simple Boomark

As many of you will know, the current Craft Boots Challenge is 'Anything But a Card'.  I made this boomark recently and, whilst I did not consider it to be good enough to use as a Crafty Boots Design Team piece, I still wanted to share it with you.

I used Stampendous Dreamweaver White Embossing Paste and my Stampendous Metal Dreamweaver 'Tall Poppy' Stencil to create this image.  It was the first time I had used this technique and was a little disappointed with how the embossing paste leaked slightly under the stencil and blurring some of the fine detail.  I tried several times but the result much the same each time.

To give the bookmark a little more dimension (and to hide some of the worse 'smudged' areas) I layered some of the sections (I am not sure that you can make it out from these photographs).

To complete the bookmark I placed it on some white card and punched a hole for the ribbons.

I shall be back tomorrow with the Crafty Boots Mid Challenge Reminder.

  1. I like this a lot! I love the ribbon color and definitely the center design! Did you submit it to the challenge? I think you should!

    1. Thank you, but I do not feel it is good enough for a challenge, you can see where the paste has oozed and filled in the gaps. I am sure I can do better, although I do like the colours.

  2. It's beautiful and great textured stencilling and beautiful ribbons--more than good enough for a DT entry and we would love to see you enter this at

  3. I hate it when stuff leaks under the stencil however, when I first looked at this I thought it was a die cut as it looked crisp and sharp! The red and white is very striking. xx

    1. Thank you Lisette, I think I managed to save this by combining the best bits of two attempts, but you can still see some of the seepage if you look closely. However, I need a lot more practice.
