Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Decoupage Christmas Card

Back with my second post of the day.  I mentioned yesterday that I have finished making my Christmas cards, such a relief.  They are now all written and in the post.  (Although, I do need to make a couple more to use as money wallets.)

I find keeping up with my daily Advent Calender posts takes a lot of my time and, what with everything else at the moment, I have not found time to post anything else.  However, I am getting quite the backlog of other things which I want to share with you and I thought I should start with the cards.  For the first time in a very long time I decided that this year I would make kit cards because I really did not have the time to hand colour lots of images - I send around 80 cards so you can imagine how long that takes.

I ordered the cards from Hunkydory some time ago, not knowing what to expect but I was very impressed, they really do contain everything you need, of course you can personalise them if you wish.

This lovely winter barge scene was a surprize gift I discovered in the box when I opened it.  The card has something like 6 decoupage layers, a choice of sentiments and the backing card.  I added the Santa and snowflake embellishments.  It has been a very long time since I last made a decoupage card and this time I did not have to fussy cut everything out first, result.

    1. I have been very impressed with these Hunkydory kits and it was such a treat not to have to cut all of the layers out before putting the card together - I just wish I had thought to take a photo from the side so you can see all of the layers on this one.

I did a final check of all of my presents this evening and found I needed to order another half dozen to make up the numbers but, once they arrive, that is me done. Decorations next!

    1. Ten years ago I sent double that number of cards, but we have had a quite few loses in recent years.

I have everything crossed, hoping that I have not missed anyone this year because I have used all of the cards I made, I anxiously check every post as it arrives. Hopefully we are both done with the card making for this year.
