Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Snowfall

Day nine and I am still having to borrow my husband's laptop to share my miniature Christmas outfits with you, I hope all the frustration is worth it.

Before you scroll down and look at the photos I need to apologise for the clarity of the images.  I have used a very pale grey to represent the snow filled sky and it hard to make out the white snowflakes against it.  I have tried to artificially increase the contrast but it has not helped much.

I have another pair of matching designs today.  After making the dress I re-worked the pattern chart to get the design for the jumper.  The dress is another of Suzymarie's variations of the Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' and  I used her 'Seasonal Sweaters' patterns. As you will know by now, the original pattern was designed to fit the 'Little Cotton Rabbits' series of soft toys.

The original patterns were written for 4 ply but as the elves I have been knitting for are a little larger than the Little Cotton Rabbits I have made mine in baby soft double knit.

Suzymarie has called this design 'Snowfall'.

PS Whilst I really love to read your comments, I will understand if you do not feel you have anything to say about yet another dress and jumper combo, perhaps you could just say hi to let me know that you stopped by.

  1. Oh dear, not good news on the laptop but so glad you didn't let that stop you posting. These reflect a grey, Oct and snowy day perfectly. I love the accumulated build up of snow on the dress and the snowy white bands on the jumper, just like drifting snow x

    1. That was the look I was going for, I think the snowy design are really well done - there are one or two more to follow.

I have not been able to get my laptop to anyone yet so I do not know how long I am going to be without it but it is really frustrating. I am hoping to get to the computer shop tomorrow and drop it off, then it just depends on how busy they are.

    2. Fingers crossed! That should have said icy and not Oct by the way just in case you think I've gone nuts. However, made me think those elves need a little Halloween outfit! X

    1. Thank you so much Carol. The red skirt belongs to the manikin so you are going to see a lot of it - sometimes I left it showing in the photos and others I tucked it up inside the dress.

Thank you for taking this journey with me, but I completely understand if you are too busy to comment on every post.
