Good morning
I am back today with day two of Christmas in July and, what I have come to think of my Elf Challenge. (If you did not see my post yesterday you may find it helpful to check it out so you will know what I am am babbling about.)
When I first started making these clothes for my niece's elves I just picked random patterns, I gave no thought to matching dresses and jumpers - that came later. However, once the idea came to me I tried to match those already made and, where there was no obvious winter theme, I added beads and charms to give them a more Christmassy feel.
I have used Julie Williams '
Seasonal Dresses' and '
Seasonal Sweaters' for the basic pattern for my elf clothes. Julie gives all of her designs a name and this dress pattern is called '
Frondy Frock'. The pattern was designed to fit the 'Little Cotton Rabbits' series but my nieces elves are slightly larger, so I made them in double knit rather than 4 ply.
The dress is knitted in two shades of blue doule knit.
I added the little snowflake charm to give a little Christmas cheer to the design.
The jumper, as you can see, is just plain royal blue with a snowflake charm - my crafty stash came in very handy for this project.
Each dress and jumper is fastened at the back by a tiny button.
I shall be back again tomorrow with another dress and sweater. It occurs to me that, with 24 posts, this could quickly become rather monotonous - after all there is only so much you can saw about a knitted dress and sweater and, as much as I love to read your comments, I will understand if you do not feel you have anything new to say.

Love the blue and the snowflake is the perfect finishing touch x
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisette. I went a bit mad with the charms on some of the dresses/jumpers, but I thought the single snowflake on this lovely blue was more stylish.
