Welcome
Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.
I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!
Thank you for visiting my blog.

Little Red Jumper
I replenished my stock of red yarn twice whilst I was working on these tops and every time I was unable to get the same yarn as the type I had been working with. Knitters will instantly see my dilemma, but in case you do not knit, I shall attempt to explain. The shades between different brands varies considerably, in fact the shade often varies between one pack (or what is known as a Dye Lot) to another. Therefore, it is very unwise to try to use two different types of yarn in the one garment.
After I had finished the cardigan before I made this jumper, I could see that I was getting low on red yarn, and I did not think I had enough to make another cardigan, so I decided to make a jumper as it used slightly less yarn. To my surprise it really was so much easier and quicker to make than a cardigan .... the bands for the buttons are not my favourite things to make.
The pattern I used was Styecraft #4910. There is opening in this pattern, just a very stretchy neck!
I hope you have a great week.

This looks so cosy and so festive, almost too cool for school! I happen to have some red boots that would go perfectly......! 😁x
ReplyDeleteWe really need to shrink you. I am sure Lucy would let you have them once she is through with all of her jumpers and cardigans.

Beautiful jumper I love the colour -Hollys school cardigans are red too but they have to be bought from the school with the school badge on-I know what you mean about the dye lots and seem to remember knitting quicker to get it finished before the wool ran out lol

Thank you Carol. It gets so expensive having children in school these days, especially when you have to use school tailors.
DeleteAlthough I am newish to knitting, I have crocheted for many years, and I can remember going to our local wool shop and reserving yarn, which they would keep for a number of weeks without me paying for it, so I could be sure that everything came from the same dye lot ... you don't get that with the internet.
