Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Use a Sentiment

Sorry, I am a little late with my posting today. You know what it is like, if it is not one thing then it is another and I am all behind today with my card for the new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges.  The theme for the next two weeks is 'Use a Sentiment'.

I wanted to use my new butterfly die for this card, it is one of the Sizzix layered Bigz dies (the ones with the texture fades embossing folder), but I could not think of how I wanted to use it as I wanted to avoid any reference to steampunk this time.

I stepped outside my usual comfort zone for this card, The Sizzix die is quite large, which made me think of large tropical butterflies (and moths) and exotic blooms.  I covered my card with a sheet of green glitter card and added some very colourful Petaloo flowers, the ones with the big glittery centres - they remind my a fruit pastels.  I carefully placed the butterfly on top and added some clear flat backed gems to its thorax.  The all important sentiment is by Craftwork Cards.

The lovely ladies on the Crafty Boot Challenges Design Team have made some wonderful cards, please pop over and take a look.

  1. You snuck this in when my back was turned!!! What a fabulous card - it certainly has a warming lush tropical feel to it .Love what you have done with the butterfly and those spotty flowers with their gumdrop centres are stunning, especially against the glittery green. Just need an appropriate cocktail to sip alongside! xx

    1. Hi, I am sorry about the misdirection, I am having big laptop problems again. I am going to have to get it back in the shop asap. I was in two minds about posting this card, I am never sure about stepping outside my comfort zone. I therefore really appreciate you comments.
