Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Flight

Unlike my dear friends Lisette and Pamellia I am not a fan of the cold.  I find the snow very pretty but the damp and cold get into my joints and slow me down.  I have so much I need to do but it seems that today is a day for staying by the fire and crafting.

I needed a card for my brother-in-law and I felt something vintage was in order, something very much like this spitfire from Delicious Doodles.  I coloured the image with F&C polychromos pencils and mounted it on gold mirri and orange card.

The newspaper print backing paper is from a First Edition paper stack.  The sentiment and gem embellishments were from my stash.

  1. HAHA, so true Dionne, the cold isn't for everyone. So I take that means you got some snow, or is just chilly? We still have bupkis! I was hoping for a better winter this year, but I fear that the global warming may have ruined winters for us up here for good.

Your card is just wonderful. I love that newsprint background, and the layers of red and metallic really make your wonderful plane image pop!! Stay warm my friend and have a great week! hugs :)

    1. We had a light dusting of snow last Friday evening but it rained Saturday morning and it melted all of the snow. However, it is seriously cold here today with a thick frost which is not melting despite the sun being up. I have just been out to the garden, brrrrr!

I am sorry to hear that you still do not have any decent snow as I love looking at your photographs.

    1. I have a lot of Delicious Doodle designs (not so much the Goth ones) but the vintage ones are beautiful to work with and this one seemed perfect for the newsprint paper.

  5. Very nice card! I don't enjoy the cold either. It was very cold today since there is snow heading towards the south. We don't really get alot of snow, more of an icy wind and sky. I have three fat goats on my land and I am amazed they survive through this!

    1. We have had cloudless skies for days and the temperatures are sub zero, I cannot remember the last time I truly felt warm.
