Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Through the Letterbox

We are at the mid challenge reminder stage of the current Crafty Boots Challenge.  The theme of this challege is 'Things with Wings'.

For my card today I dug out my favourite butterfly stamp - Stampin' Up's Swallowtail Butterfly.  Some time ago I saw something like this on Pinterest by Brian King and then I started seeing similar cards all over the place.  It has always struck me that the effect is rather like looking through a letterbox at the subject.

I coloured the stamped image with Promarkers and I then took my courage in both hands and cut away the wings top and bottom.  I mounted the image half a dozen times on different coloured card.  Finally I added some flat backed gems.

Crafty Boots has two fabulous guest designers this week, Keti and Carol.  Please pop over to the Crafty Boots blog and leave some of your wonderful appreciation for their stunning work.

    1. Thank you so much. This is one of my favourite stamps, it is so big and it is a lot o fun playing around with colours. I usually go for blues, pinks and purples but wanted something really stiking for this card.

I have been a member of Pinterest for quite a while now and it is very handy when my mojo lets me down. It is amazing how many cards are on there, I do not think there is a subject not covered. Of course, it is not just crafters who use it, there are photos of everything under the sun.

    1. I was nervous about cutting up this image, especially as it had taken me so long to colour it but I really like the effect and I have been thinking about which other stamps I have that I could do this to.

The honour of having you as a GD was all ours, thank you so much for doing this.
