Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Gold Swallowtail Butterfly

A new challenge has started at Crafty Boots Challenges, for the next two weeks we are asking you to share with us your gold and/or silver projects .

After all of the Christmas cards I have made this month it was very hard to think of a non-Christmas design.  In the end I looked for inspiration in my favourite Stampin' Up Swallowtail Butterfly stamp.  I really love working with this stamp, no matter how you use it, it always looks fabulous.  I had never tried it in a metallic colour before and I was delighted with the effect.

There is a lot of fine detail in this stamp so I decided to use gold ink rather than emboss it as I find that embossing can sometimes loose that detail.  The drawback of the gold ink is that it seems to take forever to dry and I ended up with it all over my fingers and fingerprints on my card.  Luckily, I manage to get rid of the fingerprints with a pencil eraser.

I stamped the image onto some linen effect card ad then layered it with gold mirri card.  The sentiment is a Stampin' Up stamp.  The champagne coloured flat backed gems are from Kanban Crafts.

The Crafty Boots Design Team has been busy making some very glitzy inspirational projects, please make sure you take a peek when you enter your projects in the challenge.

Good Luck.
