Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Silver Wedding Anniversary

I made this card for the Silver Wedding Anniversary of my best friend and her husband.

Congratulations on being married for 25 years guys.  By the way, I'm looking forward to dancing at your Golden Wedding anniversary party!

I used a sheet of Claritystamp double sided adhesive and stamped it with this old Stampendous bells and ribbons stamp, I must have had this stamp in my stash for about 15 years.

Stamping the image on one side of the sheet of double sided adhesive and left it to dry.  Once dry, I covered the image with a sheet of acetate.  Turning the sheet over, I carefully cut out the image with my craft knife.  I removed the ribbon and confetti sections from the backing sheet (taking care to leave the paper covering the bells and the background in place) and covered the exposed area with gold gilding flakes.  Once this was done I was able to remove the rest of the backing paper and cover the remaining area with silver leaf.

I think I should mention that the gilding flakes are a lot easier to use than the silver leaf, which is so light, it gets everywhere and I needed to vacuum all my furniture and myself after using it.  I shall stick to gilding flakes in future.

I used a Nestability die to cut an aperture into the silver card and added a peel off.
