Now I know that all the card makers out there will relate to this little tale. This pale blue jumper started life as just that, a plain blue jumper. Half way up the second sleeve I ran out of yarn and, much to my surprize, I did not have a second ball in my stash. I was so sure I had another ball!
So like any good card maker I started improvising. First, I unpicked both sleeves and used some white yarn to make them striped. However, I then became concerned that the jumper would look exactly like what it was - a fudge job. So next I unpicked some of the front and put a star shape on the chest. I am hoping that it now looks like that is exactly what I intended to do from the start - do you think I pulled it off?
The plain jumper pattern is the easy to knit - BHKC pattern number 3. I love this pattern, both the cardigans and jumpers are so quick and easy to make.
You totally pulled it off and, although I have no idea how you had the will or motivation to unpick all your hard work, what a brilliant result. I love both stripes and star, such a great combination and very on trend. Hope to see this design in a range of colours and sizes, including for your rabbits! Xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am not always so patient but it was either re-make some of it or totally abandon the jumper because I did not have any more of that colour .... and it is only a small jumper!
DeleteIt was actually one of the little bears which gave me the idea - (http://deescraftroom.blogspot.com/2019/07/if-you-go-down-to-woods-today.html#comment-form).
Have a great weekend.

Thank you Carol.
DeleteI confess, it isn't the first time I have run out of yarn - the first time is was a simple matter of a different die lot, but what a difference in colour, it totally ruined the jumper but I learnt my lesson, I always unpick now.
How many times have you started to make a card and it does not go the way you thought and you have had to go back to the mental drawing board and start improvising? Some of my best stuff has started out that way.

I agree you start off with a design in mind and the end result is nothing like lol but usually better than you thought
