Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

A Little Taupe Set

A pinch and a punch, it's the first of the month.  A little something from my childhood, I wonder if children still race to be the first to say that?

I hope you had a good weekend, did the heatwave find you?  I think it would have been hard to miss it if you live in the UK.  Too hot for me, I'm afraid!

Today it's back to the knitting and I have another baby outfit to share with you.  This little set was made in a taupe coloured double knit yarn.  I realise that it looks more grey in these photographs but, try as I might, I could not reproduce the colour accurately, it must be some odd property of the yarn because it also looked grey in the eBay photograph (which is where the yarn came from).

The cardigan pattern is the easy to knit BHKC pattern number 3, perfect for a baby boy, nothing frilly or lacy about this design.

I based the hat and mittens on one of my other baby patterns, I left out the lacy edging so it would match the cardigan.

The buttons are wooden ones, etched with 'Handmade with love'.  The buttons are a rich creamy colour and the writing matches the taupe yarn, they compliment one another very well,

I hope that the week ahead is good to you.

    1. Thank you Carol. The buttons were a little tight at first, but I slipped them through the holes a few times and the holes stretched a little.

    1. Thank you. I thought about putting buttons on the mittens but I was worried that baby might scratch himself. I wish I was able to show you the true colour- the hat gets the closest.
