Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Nellie the Elephant

This Nellie did not exactly pack her trunk but she has now moved home, I just hope her new owned loves her as much as I do.

This little elephant is another from Julie Williams 'Little Cotton Rabbits' family, which are available from Ravalry.  There are ten different animals in this series and there is a different pattern for both boys and girls - making 20 patterns in all.  I am a fairly inexperienced knitter but these patterns are full of tips and I have picked up a lot of new stitches from following the instructions provided.

All of the little girl patterns come wearing tights and shoes.  The top half of Nellie is made from Double Knit alpaca wool and the bottom half is 4 ply cotton.

From this rear view you can see her lovely tail and her ears, I just love the way they are designed to fit.

The dress is one of Kirsty's  designs called Sailboat Dress, I deliberately used the colours from her tights and shoes in the dress so she is nicely colour coordinated.  I left a small slot in the back seam for her tail.

I hope you enjoyed this introduction to this elephant design.

    1. Thank you. As Christmas got closer, and the pressure started to get to me, I stopped knitting the tights and shoes as they can be a bit time consuming but I must get back into the habit of knitting them.

    1. Thank you so much, I adore this little elephant and found it so hard to wrap it up for someone else at Christmas. I kept telling myself that I can always make another one.
