Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Four Little Mice

Instead of sharing each of these mice with you separately, I thought would spare you the torture and combine them in the same post.

I made these little mice for my nieces.  Th pattern is by Julie Williams and is available from Ravelry, it is called  'Mouse Girl in a Flowered Dress'.

As you can see, each mouse is a different colour - as are the little dresses.  Each dress has the cute lettuce hem and I added a button the centre of each flower.

I learnt a couple of  new knitting stitch making this pattern.  The first been in making the tails, it is a lot like French Knitting but done on double ended needles.

The other new thing I learnt is knitting on circular needles, this was to make the legs, which are single row stripes.

I tried to coordinate the tights and shoes with the dresses.

The ears were fascinating to make, they are nothing like anything else I have made.  This mouse really does have two ears, honest!

I think I may have made the tails a little too long, but who else can wrap their tails around their arms?

A small gap is left in the back seam of the dress for the tail to pull through and each dress is fastened with a small loop and button.

I took a picture of the mice without their dresses so you can see the tights.

I hope you have enjoyed meeting my four small mice.

    1. Thank you so much Carol, you have no idea how much your support means to me. Those tights were so fiddly, at the time I said that I would never do single row stripes again, but ..... you know I will.

  2. I love that you have posted them all together like this. Not only do I get a chance to see them all, but it's nice to be able to compare and see the similarities and the differences. Really love these mice, and the dresses are just darling! I almost spit out my coffee when I saw that last pic of the naked mice. It's mouse p*rn, but then I realized they still have their tights on. LOL

I was just getting used to having a Canadian winter this year, when suddenly our temperatures have shot up through the roof. The snow is almost gone! Time to put away the fur lined boots and pull out the galoshes! HAHA!! Hope you are having a great week my friend. sending hugs and wishes :)

    1. Ha ha ha ha, I love you vision of mouse p*rn. Despite the shoes and tights, I do think of them as being undressed without their dresses. I am sure you have worked out that the shoes and tights do not come off.

I have been making these little animals all year and started making them in fours (one each for my nieces), so there will be more posts like this one.

I am sorry to hear that all of your snow has virtually gone, it did not hang around for long this time but perhaps it will return before the end of winter.

Take care my friend and thank you for visiting.

    1. Thank you so much Lisette, you really do say the nicest things and I really appreciate it.

It took me a while to get the hang of knitting those tights as I not used circular needles before. It just goes to show that there is still a lot for me learn about knitting.
