Do you remember the
four little mice I shared with you last week? Well, today I should like to show you the four little cats I also made for my nieces for Christmas.
This is another of Julie Williams charming patterns called
Cat Girl, which is also available from Ravelry. My apologies again for my poor photography, the light when I took all of these projects was dreadful and the flash from my camera over exposed them - I think could do with some lessons on how to use my new camera.
The dress pattern is called '
Sweet Shoppe Dress' by SuzyMarie. If you look closely you will see that, whilst basically the same, each dress is slightly different - just my way of avoiding boredom. I added a small red glass bead to the glace cherry.
As I made each cat I added them to a bag of finished projects and some of them got a bit squashed, I did try to revive them before photographing them but I can see now that I should have spent longer moving the filling around.
As with the mice I shared last week, I have tried to colour coordinate the tights and shoes with the dresses.
Each cat has a lovely swishy tail, which comes through a gap left in the back seam of the dress.
You have probably gathered that the tights and shoes are part of the cat and cannot be removed.
I found the ears a little tricky to make but eventually got the hang of the design and I am still not sure whether I like their stuffed muzzles and knitted noses.
I gave some of them white tips to their tails, arms and ears so they would be confused with one another by their new owners when they are playing together (I should point out that I made the top half first and then realised that the colour of the tights and shoes would do that).
Their eyes are a series of French Knots and some are larger than others but I have done my best to make sure each pair of eyes match.
And here we are with what has come to be referred to as the n*ked photo. However, I should point out that they are still wearing their tights and shoes. Ohh la la!
I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

I think I understand now why you didn't post anything for so long, you sure were a busy lady making all of these stuffed animals!! I would love to knit or crochet some clothes for the girls, but I just can't hold onto those pesky needles, I am quite jealous of your skills! These cats are so adorable, I just love their little dresses and shoes!
ReplyDeleteWe got another light and fluffy snowfall this week and I took over a thousand photos outside! I finally found the Chickadees, just a few degrees warm up in the weather, and they came flocking out from their hiding spots!! I just can't get enough of this wonderful winter we are having. Hope you are having good weather, sending hugs :)
My problem was that if I posted as I went I ran the risk of spoiling a few Christmas surprizes but by leaving it until now I run the risk of boring everyone. But I am almost done now.
DeleteAs you know, I only relatively recently learnt to knit. I taught myself with the aid of YouTube but I still cannot do cable knit, I literally keep dropping the needles.
We have a much milder climate here and really have snow. It has turned a lot colder over the last couple of days but not still no snow .... yet. However, I am really looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

ReplyDeleteCarol x
You are too kind Carol, I look at others on Pinterest and I am nowhere as good as these other talented ladies. I'll keep pracising before deciding I am good enough to give up my day job - oh, I don't have one any more!

Oh my goodness!! Adorable work! You have an awesome talent and I like that you share it! Lol and it was risky putting a n*ked photo of the cat! Jk ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, that is such a lovely thing to say.
DeletePamellia coined the n*ked phrase, I think it is great fun and intend to continue using it.

I agree with Carol, you could definitely sell your work, especially with the range of outfits you offer. These cats look fabulous in their ice cream dresses. Another gorgeous design and beautiful colourways - you have a gift for combining colours really well.A snowy icy week up here and I managed to fall over but without injury!! X
ReplyDeleteOh no Lisette, please be more careful. We had some snow yesterday morning but it turn to rain later so nothing remains. It is very wet and miserble now.
DeleteKeep warm.

Dear Noranne
DeleteThank you for leaving your comment, I love to hear from fellow knitters.
All of the patterns are available on-line and are very easy to download. The cat pattern, which is by Julie Williams, is available from the knitting website Ravely https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/girl-cat. It cost just £4.00, I think that is just over $5.
The dress pattern is also available from Ravelry, you will need to first purchase Julie Williams basic dress patterns https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/seasonal-dresses-pattern, which costs £5.00 ($6.28) and you will also need the chart for the ice cream design, this is free at https://www.ravelry.com/projects/suzymarie/seasonal-dresses-pattern-84. The ice cream chart was designed by Suzymarie and she has many lovely dress designs on Ravelry, all of which are free.
I hope you enjoy making your own cats.
Best wishes.
