Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Little Cream Outfit

Good morning, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

A couple of weeks ago my husband came down with a bug, a nasty cold which turned into a chest infection, being a generous soul he shared it with me.  We are both totally fed up with this cough and cold now and we are looking forward to it going, however, my husband gave the wonderful news yesterday that the people he works with are complaining that after six weeks they are still coughing.  I am sure you can imagine how happy I am at this news!

Today I have another of my old projects to share with you.  I made this jacket with matching beanie and mittens for my tiny niece (well  not so tiny now as she is seven months old).

I bought this pattern from ebay, unfortunately it has no brand or number reference on it to identify it.  I made it in cream Double Knit yarn, so it is lovely and soft and cosy.

I am very unhappy with my attempts to photograph my knitted projects and if anyone out there has any tips on how I can show my knitting off better, I would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.

Have a lovely week.

  1. Such a beautiful outfit! I looks so soft. I think your photos came out great! Maybe a little more lighting if you think your images are little too dark. I like using natural light by a big window during the day or outside near my porch to get indirect light. Around 2-4 pm is the best light (in my area).

I hope you and your husband get better. Having a cough for so long is irritating and slightly painful especially when your ribs feel like they are bruised. Chest infections are not good! So I hope you guys get better soon!!

    1. Thank you so much, because of the yarn I use, the baby clothes I make are always lovey and soft.

Many thanks for the lightling tips, I have retently been comtemplating investing in a lighting rig. Knowing what to do with it when not in use is the only thing stopping me.

Also, thank you for your good wishes. The chest infection is on it's way, we are both feeling much better.

    1. I think we are over the worse of it now, thank you, but there are a lot of these very nasty chest infections about at the moment, both of my sisters have been laid up for weeks and ended up going to see their GPs. I hope your grandaughter is feeling better soon. Give her an extra hug.

  4. Awww, what an adorable set Dionne! I really love the soft yellow, normally wouldn't be a first choice for me, but somehow it just really works for such a sweet set and I can see the softness on your niece when she wears it! Love the little hat, omg how sweet is that!! I do hope your hubby is feeling better now, seems to be the season for it now, so many people coughing when I was at the store. I almost ran out!! lol. sending hugs :)

    1. Thank you for your sweet comments. Our coughs and colds are at last going but unbelievably my husband has now thrown his back out - he is shuffling around like a very old man wearing a full nappy, I think he must be in a lot of pain.
