I hope you are enjoying the long weekend. This year, in the UK, the Bank Holidays are coming very close together at the moment, we have just had Easter and at the end of the month we shall have another. You could be forgiven for thinking that we have a lot of Bank Holidays (Public Holiday) in England but it is not so, after this month we have just three more this year one in August and then Christmas Day and Boxing Day (26 December).
I had a little time earlier today to put together another project to share with you. You may recall
Romeo, the fabulous Mary Jane's Tearoom bear I shared with you in March. I was so delighted with how he turned out I decided to make one for my BFF's birthday. She decided to called her bear Donovan.
Donovan and his clothes are made of beautifully soft 100% alpaca wool. He is so soft and squidgy it is very heard to get him to sit or stand up (he isn't drunk, honest).
His body is made in grey with cream coloured socks.
I decided to try glass eyes for this bear, I thought it would give him a more traditional look. However, it is difficult 'pull' the eyes into the head when they are made of glass. Mind you, I think my nose stitching is getting better with every bear.
The turn down on his boots is lavender and I could not decide on the matching colourway for the jumper ie lavender with black and grey highlights or cream with lavender and grey highlights. In the end I made both and left it to my friend to decide which she likes best.
Once again there is a small heart embroidered into one of his ears.
As you can see from this photo the design on the jumper is hearts and crosses,
and little wooden buttons trim the boots and trousers.
No time to focus this photograph, he went sideways a moment after the shutter did its thing.
Enjoy the rest of the holday.

So cool about the UK. It's different a bit from USA. And love this bear! Amazing work and your photos look great! They look so professional and great lighting!
ReplyDeleteI think Donovan came over all melodramatic for his photoshoot, lots of very moody looks and attitude. The last photopraph was the funniest, I manage to balance on his feet just long enough to take the photo and then he slowly slid sideways, like someone passing out in slow motion.
DeleteHaha.

Haha! That is so cute! That is how it is when I take photos of my little girls when they are modeling the headbands I make! I am running around them trying to get a smile from them before they pull off the headband! 😀
DeleteYou know what they say - never work with children or animals (I would include the stuff kind in there!).

Awww, Donovan is so handsome!! I love his little marking on his one ear there, how amazing is that!! His clothes are just adorable, such sweet little patterns on his sweaters and I love the heart buttons on his pants! You are so super talented my friend!!
ReplyDeleteSo I have decided to redesign my patio so I can build a little private garden oasis. They have ripped out every single flower bed from around the lake and in the park, and I don't understand why. I really miss all the colours, so I'm making my own!!! Construction starts in a couple of weeks and I'm totally excited!! sending hugs my friend :)
Thank you. I think I was having a ad camera day when I photographed Donovan and of course he has now gone to his forever home so I can not take any more of him.
DeleteI cannot wait to see the photos of your patio, it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Good luck.

I am so sorry Carol, I have no idea what happened to your comments.
DeleteI wonder why your comments vanished after you went to the trouble of leaving them and they were such nice comments too.
Thank you for re-typing them.

I think it must have been a blip on blogger as a few others have vanished too
