Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Poinsettia Card

Welcome back, it is week two of the current Crafty Boots Challenge, the theme for these two weeks is 'Christmas'.

How are your preparations for the big day going?  I feel like I am loosing the battle at the moment.  I made my cards months ago but they are still not written.  I have done a lot of shopping over the last few weeks but I am not sure if I have presents for everyone, so I a trying to get them all wrapped and I am making a list as I go ....... I think I am almost there.

Since my early twenties I have wanted either a deep blue Christmas tree or a purple one.  I had a deep red on for may years, which I adored.  Last year my friend Mrs Beez told me where I could get a 5 ft purple one.  Sadly, after weeks of waiting for it, I got a letter to say they had sold out.  This year I have ordered it again but I am still waiting for it to arrive - and I have just realised that, when it does arrive, I do not have any decorations for it!

Enough of all of my Christmas dilemmas, here is my design Team card for today.  Very traditional colours and subject with  a few modern highlights.

The poinsettia die is by Susan's Garden from Sizzix. I used liquid pearls to create the stamen.  The card, snowflake charm and ribbon are all from my stash.  The sentiment stamp is by Stampin' Up.

The rest of the Design Team have been busy making some fabulous inspirational designs, please check them out.

  1. Gorgeous Dionne! Red and green, so my favourite for the holidays! Love your poinsettia and that red spotted ribbon is awesome...I think I need some of that!! Beautiful embossing patterns, and loving the layers...love it all actually! hugs :)

    1. Thank you. I have made several of these cards but I think this is my favourite by far.

      Dionne xx

  2. Gorgeous. A beautiful poinsettia and I love the embossed background. I do hope your purple tree arrives and obviously you will need to go out and buy lots of new decorations:) xx

    1. Thank you, of all of the poinsettia cards I have made with this Susan's Garden set of dies, I think is my favourite - perhaps practice does make perfect, or at least improves on things.

I am delighted to say that the purple tree has arrived, well I think so, I have been so busy the last couple of days I have no had time to unpack it!

Thank you for visiting my blog, I look forward to reading your feedback on my work. I hope you will visit again.
