Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

On Your Special Day

Thank you for visiting my blog today and a special hello to anyone who has found their way here via the Crafty Boots Challenges blog.

There is a new challenge starting at Crafty Boots Challenges today. The theme for the next two weeks is 'Big Birthday's', those special birthdays we often love or loathe, for instance, sweet sixteen, coming of ago or one of those birthday's with a zero on the end. This theme was chosen by the very talented Sandra.  Happy birthday Sandra.

Like most of us, I find making a card for a man difficult and special cards for them are even more difficult.  The husband of a very dear friend recently hit 50, what to do?

I layered some dark blue card on some silver mirri card and some plain white card.  I then cut some small white squares of card and used a matching blue ink to stamp a small swallowtail butterfly at various angles.  Then I layer the white squares on more silver mirri card and arranged them on the card.

Finally, I opened up an old aluminium drinks can and used it to cut a 5 and a 0 with my Big Shot and attached them to the card.

Please hop across to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog to see all of the projects the rest of the Design Team have made.

Good luck with your entries.
