Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Ten Green Bottles

A day or two ago I mentioned that a friend had sent me a pack of stamped images of bottles and glasses.   Today I had my first opportunity to use some of them on this birthday card.

The backing papers and sentiment were from a mix from old Kanban Craft and Hunkydory kits.  I coloured the wine bottle and glasses with Promarkers and I added Glossy Accents to the glasses. I then mounted the glasses and the bottle on 3D foam pads.

I am afraid my photographic skills have not improve.

A Special Thank you

The other day a received a surprize package through the post.  It was a large envelope full of stamped images - there were wine bottles and wine glasses. gin bottles, with glasses to match with extra slices of lemon and ice cubes, as well as champagne bottles and champagne coupes, along with beer bottles and frothing beer mugs etc, etc.  Infact, virtually every type of alcoholic beverage with it's appropriate glass.  As you can imagine, I was over the moon and I needed to give an enormous thank you to my dear friend and fellow crafter the Crafty-Stamper aka Carol.

So, I made this simple thank you notelet to send to Carol.

Most of the elements for this card came from one of my old Kanban Crafts kits - the organsa ribbon, mirri card and flat backed gems came from my stash.

Carol popped one of her own creations into the package. I am speechless, it is a stunning tag card and, honestly, my photographs do not so it justice.  Please drop by her blog to get a much better look at some of the cards Carol makes.   I promise you will not be disappointed, just make sure you have plenty of time, because you will not want to stop looking after just one card.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Another Anniversary Card

A few weeks ago I shared a wedding anniversary card with you.  We have another family wedding anniversary today and I do not wish to be accused of favouritism, so the card I have to share with you today is not dissimilar.

The papers and sentiment are from a very old Kanban Crafts collection of beautiful papers and card, all embossed with silver or gold and some are printed on mirri card, they are all fabulous and I have been squirreling them away for a long, long time.

I forgot to take a photograph of the slide, so you could see that the front of the card is shorter and the contrasting papers continue on the inside of the card.

That's it from me today.

Lucy's Birthday Card

Yesterday I shared with you a card I had made from a shop bought card. Today, I have a further confession - it wasn't the only card I repurposed.

Whilst I had my trimmer and Kanban letters & numbers out, I gave another card the same treatment for my youngest niece, Lucy, who is a little older than her cousin but they are the best of friends. Take a really fun image, add some additional lettering, flat backed gems, some Glossy Accents, foam pads, ribbon, bow and mirri board ....

.... and we have a re-vamped birthday card.

It's been a while since I used them last and I had completely forgotten how fiddly sticky foam pads can be!

I hope today is a special day.

Edward's Birthday Card

Apologies for the late posting today.

I feel a bit of a fraud posting this card because it was a bit of a cheat. The picture of the dinosaur was actually the front of a shop bought card from The Card Factory. It was one of their bargain range, which I bought for my youngest nephew, who will be three this weekend.

Last night I decided to brighten the card up by adding his age to the front and putting an insert inside. Then, whilst I was in bed it went from adding his age to also adding his name on the front - sometimes my mind designs cards whilst I sleep! However, the card was too small for his name, so I started chopping the card up and layering the picture, then adding some shiny gems. An hour later voila, a reinvented birthday card.

I hope you can forgive me for my cheat, after all, it was fun to do.

Happy Birthday to Moo!

If you have been visiting my blog recently, you cannot fail to have spotted this lovely kit from Honkydory which I have been dipping into for the past week or two.  It really is a lovely kit to work with.

The kit contains toppers, matching backing papers and lots of little tags, sentiments and even matching inserts, all I have had to add from my craft stash are mirri card, ribbon, card and glue.  However, between laying out this design and cutting the cards and gluing them into place, I managed to loose one of the tags.  I have looked all over for it, I went through what is left of the kit, checked to floor, I even went through the bin, but I cannot find the little tag with a chick on it with a cringe inducing pun.

A week later and I have found the missing tag, along with the rest of the Hunkydory kit, so I can now tell you that the kit is one of their Adorable Scorable range called Animal Crackers and, apparently, it was a free gift, so apologies if you were hoping to get your hands on a copy.

Now that the missing tag has turned up I can finish the card.  The letters and numbers are from a very old Kanban kit.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Never a Rainy Day

As you probably know, I have a problem with my printer, therefore I am having to resort to pre-coloured images from the countless old kits I have been saving for a rainy day.

Never a rainy day with this kit from Hunkydory Crafts, all of the images are so cute and I love the matching papers.  The mirri card, sentiment and Card Candy are from my stash.

I hope that there is not a cloud on your horizon.

A Little Birdie Told Me

I hope you are having a great day.  I am back with another bitrhday card to share with you from one of the fabulous Honkydory kits.

I am loving this kit, it is so versatile and inspiring.  I have kept the layout flat-ish because I need to send it through the post and I do not want to incur additional charges.  All of the elements you can see in the card come from the kit, except the mirri and glitter cards and the ribbon.

I hope to see you again tomorrow.

A Pinch and A Punch

August, I wonder what this month will have in store?  Perhaps it will be a time to celebrate - or perhaps it will be a time for reflection.  Which ever it turns out to be here is a card to start the month with a bang.

This image and backing paper come from an ancient Kanban Crafts kit, which I purchased from QVC way back in the Dawn Bibby days.  The papers in the set are some of the most stunning ones I have, very pretty designs printed on a variety of papers - different textures and thicknesses, and all printed with either gold or silver.  I got a little carried away with the Glossy Accents and highlighted all of the fizz exploding from the bottle.  The glitter card and sentiment came from ebay.

Wishing you a very happy August.
