Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

A few More Calendar cards

All week I have sharing the cards I made by re-cycling my old 2020 calendar. I have been thinking about doing this for years and always felt a bit of a cheapskate but this year circumstances are a little different, what with both craft and card shops being closed due to the latest lockdown, so I decided it was time to get a little inventive.

Today I have the last of the birthday cards to share with you ...

All of the designer papers, buttons, cardstock and sentiments came from my stash.

Take care.

Happy 2020

I am guessing that the observant amongst you are thinking that I made a typo in the heading of this post, but it was deliberate - honest!

Every year, as I take down my old calendar, I think that I should re-cycle the images ... and then I drop it into the re-cycling bin. At the moment it is not possible to visit my favourite craft shops or even buy birthday cards from the local card shop. So, this year I decided to turn the calendar images into cards.

Today I am sharing some of the birthday cards I made from last year's calendar ....

Backing papers, washi tape and sentiments are all from my stash.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Little Bears

We are back in Lockdown again! All this time on my hands and I need to keep busy. When we were in Lockdown last year I spent a lot of my time making face masks for my family but I think they all have more than enough now, so now I am able to return to my knitting.

Sarah, who runs Knitables, designs the patterns, makes the models, runs the website, answers the emails etc, etc, donates a percentage of the money she receives from the sale of her patterns to various charities. On top of that, she has designed a pattern of a little teddy bear in scrubs, which she gives for free to any of her customers who are willing to make it as a 'Thank you' teddy to show their gratitude to our amazing NHS and all the key workers on the frontline.

I have made two of these little bears and they are ready to go to their new forever homes once we are allowed out again and I can deliver them.

These teddies are ridiculously cute, their clothes (well except the hats) are integral to their bodies and therefore do not come off.

The pattern also includes a face mask and a stethoscope.

I wanted to give you a sense of their size and you can see them here with a few of the other Knitables I have made.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Little Tabby Cat

Happy New Year and here's to a better year than the last.

I made 42 posts during December and wanted to find something special to start 2021.  I decided to share with you one of the 'teddies' I have made from the Knitables Collection.  This is the second time I have made the cat teddy, this time I wanted to give the teddy a tabby cat look, so I used King Cole's Cherished DK in 'Humbug'.

I am not so sure whether the idea quite worked or if it looks more like my cat was tattooed!

As I made the cat I had no idea how the pattern would look, the whole process was very interesting.

From the back you can see that the patterns did not join up, which was very disappointing.

I think she looks much better in her little pink dress and lacy bloomers.

Her outfit is made in several shades of complimentary pink double knits.

The striped dress has lacy frills around the neck and arms with knitted buttons on the back to fasten it.

The bloomers have a picot edge around the leg holes and a slot in the back for her tail to go through.

Her shoes have a rope edge with a complimentary pale pink edging.

I also made her a bobble hat to keep her head warm during this cold weather.  It is dotted with tiny knitted flowers and has holes for her ears.

The cat has a second outfit to wear on Halloween.  You may have seen this outfit in greater detail in a previous post.

May 2021 bring you everything you are hoping for.
