If you are a regular visitor to this place you will know that over the past couple of years I have developed a passion for making knitted animals, especially those designed by very talented people like Julie Williams (who designs The
Little Cotton Rabbits Collection) and Susan Hickson (The
Mary Jane's Tearoom Collection), I love their work.
Recently I was idlly flicking through Pinerest when I spotted a very attractive knitted teddy bear. Further investigation revealed that he was one of a collection of animals by Sarah Gasson, called
Knitables. What made these patterns stand out, other than the quality of their design, was i) their size - each stands approximately 18 inches tall, and ii) their clothes are actually costumes ie surgeon, nurse, ballerina, super hero. Wo could resist them? Not me!
My biggest problem was which to make first. The cat was not the first I made, or the second, but it was the first one finished and dressed - and here he is .....
Made in double knit yarn the fiished cat is 18 inches tall in his stocking feet and just oh so cuddly. I was in a hurry to finish this bundle of fun and get him to my little nephew that I kept his jumper and trousers simple.
Overt your eyes now if you are of a sensitive nature - here come the naked shots!
Spoiler alert. Coming to post near your soon, watch out for other adorable Knitables.
I hope you have a great week.

Love the gorgeous cat and his set of clothes especially the little boots really cute-thank you for the warning and eyes averted.Typewriter skills long forgotten and now have to look at keys lol

It doesn't happen very often Carol but you just made me laugh out load ... good job I am on my own. I am so pleased I am not the only one looking at her fingers. Sometimes I do not peek but then I run the risk of typing gobbledygook because all of my fingers are one row of keys over. I never learnt shorthand, I do not think I would have the patience, I was not keen on typing and always said I would never do a job sitting at a typewriter all day. And then the world discovered computers and we all sit tap tap tapping.
DeleteI am totally enamoured of these Knitables, they are much larger than any of my other knitted animals (I meant to stand a can of beans or something we would all recognise in one of the photos ... but I forgot) and they are really very cuddly . Hippo and Elephant are still awaiting clothes but I have already started on sheep - wait 'till you see sheep!

I agree Dionne because I passed exams in booking, typing and shorthand I was offered a job in an office but decided not for me -and as you say we now all sit typing every day lol---ooohh can't wait to see the sheep

I finished the sheep today, it just needs a good press and then I'll take the photos. As they say, watch this space.

Just to say thank you for all your comments on my blog Dionne and my mojo is not on fire at the moment luckily most of my DT stuff is done in advance and what isn't is done with mins to spare as we have had an ill grandaughter here all week who has thoughtfully shared her germs with me and seem to be paddling like mad and getting nowhere !!! x
DeleteI am so sorry to hear that Carol. We are the same, we have come down with another chest infection this week, just as we are geting over that Christmas virus. Round and round we all go - no immunity I guess.
DeleteIt doesn't matter that you are a well organised woman, whenever you made all of those cards, you were on fire. As they say, wow girl! I am so pround to be able to call you my friend.

Wow! These are gorgeous. I love the cat's outfit, he definitely looks like the cat's whiskers! The little boots are brilliant. As for that tail 😁 The hippo and elephant are equally adorable, especially those little pink cheeks and ears. I cant wait to see their outfits! Xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you but I cannot take all of the credit, Sarah Gasson must take some of the credit for her designs. But what a find, I love them.
DeleteI struggled for all of two minutes over dressing him in a bright pink jumper but it just had to be pink with his skin tone. It seems everyone loves the boots, I love the soles of the elephant and hippos feet (not everyone has these feet).
Now see, I thought that the hippo had pink cheeks, turns out they are nose holes! Colour me surprized too.

PS I loved the cat's whiskers joke!
