Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Up, Up and Away

No, not the first of the month again.  It seems it was only days ago I said 'A pinch and a punch, it's the first of the month' to Mrs Beez and it is time to say it to her again.

I hope your week is going well, we had a fabulous long weekend but the friends who were staying have now gone home and I need to get everything straight again.  Lots of bedding to wash and we have to push all those homeless items back into the spare room.  I sometimes think I need to either sign up for 'the life laundry' or to rent some storage space (only I worry that it will be all my craft stuff that ends up in the shredder).

The current Crafty Boots Challenge is 'You Are My Sunshine', we are looking for projects using lovey sunny colours.

My card today features a bunch of beautiful yellow balloons, I punched the balloon shapes with my Stampin' Up punch and stamped them with the matching stamp.

I swished the background with several distress inks, including Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Stormy Skies and Weathered Wood.  I mounted the whole thing on gold mirri and white card and the sentiment is from my stash.

I was rather pleased with how this turned out and I am very tempted to do it with red balloons .... or blue ones or maybe green, in fact, I can feel a whole set coming on!

  1. Fabulous background and beautiful balloons -would look great making a whole set of different colours-my little grandaughters have just come back after a break with their dad and have my third lot of washing on the line today!

    1. My instinct is to make red balloons but I am loving this challenge, working with yellows has been so much fun.

You are doing well, I have been dragging my feet over the washing and most of it still needs doing, ummm.

  2. I love this card! It's simple but yet exciting! I love the balloons and the metallic happy birthday. The background colors are so pretty as well! One of my favorites this week!

    1. Ha ha, thank you. I do not make my own backing papers very often and I am not a natural swisher but I had this idea for just having the sun peaking through at the corner of the card. I was not going to find a paper like that so I had to make my own.

If I can pull it off again, I am going to make this card with different coloured balloons.

  3. This is brilliant. The balloons are so cheerful in yellow and the background is fabulous. Perhaps I could put in a request for a Halloween version... and of course a Christmas one too :) xx

    1. OMG Lisette, how on earth am I going to make pumpking shaped balloons, or for that matter, Santa and snowman shaped balloons? But you have got me thinking.
