Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Up, up and Away

Welcome back, it is Monday and it is time for the mid challenge reminder for the Crafty Boots Challenge.  The theme of the current challenge is ' Ribbon or Lace'.

My card today features lace from Wild Orchid Crafts and ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I recently purchased some hessian (burlap) for this project but, when I looked for it this morning, I could not find it anywhere.  However, a friend gave me a role of cork at Christmas and this seemed the idea opportunity to use it.

The butterfly die is from Memory Box, I used some of Pamellia Johnson's fantastic texture paste and a Tim Holtz stencil to make the first layer.  The other layers are kraft card and an embossed sheet of white card.

My fellow teamsters have been busy, please make sure you check them out when you enter your project into the challenge.

Good luck.

  1. AAAAAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!! (That's me squealing with delight!) I saw the time and came straight here rather than via the Challenge Blog so had no idea what you might have created. The texture paste with the stencil looks totally amazing and I love the tan/kraft colours with the white, so stylish. FAB-U-LOUS xx

    1. Oh wow, I was not expecting such a fabulous reaction. It took me a lot longer to make then I thought it would and I must have been tired when I wrote the post because I have just had to correct several errors.

I had seen some kraft colour and white cards on Pinterest and was taken with how well they worked together. I wanted to keep the colours simple but introduce as much texture as I could.

I wondered if I could use this card for a wedding?

  2. Holy gorgeous Dee!!! This is just so elegant, I can't stop scrolling back up for another looksie! The alternating browns and whites really draw the eye to your focal panel, and what an amazing focal panel it is!! LOVE your touch of mixed media, it works so well as a backdrop for the intricate butterfly!! This is just outstanding my friend, and thanks so much for the shout out!! big hugs :)

    1. Thank you, I was so pleased with the brown and white combo and think that I shall have to make some more cards in this style. I saw some similar cards on Pinterest, which gave me the original idea. I wanted to keep to the two colours but introduced the different textures to give the card interest.

I love using your texture paste, it is so robust and I now know that you can cut it and it does not flake, it is amazing stuff.
