Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

On Your Special Day

Thank you for visiting my blog today and a special hello to anyone who has found their way here via the Crafty Boots Challenges blog.

There is a new challenge starting at Crafty Boots Challenges today. The theme for the next two weeks is 'Big Birthday's', those special birthdays we often love or loathe, for instance, sweet sixteen, coming of ago or one of those birthday's with a zero on the end. This theme was chosen by the very talented Sandra.  Happy birthday Sandra.

Like most of us, I find making a card for a man difficult and special cards for them are even more difficult.  The husband of a very dear friend recently hit 50, what to do?

I layered some dark blue card on some silver mirri card and some plain white card.  I then cut some small white squares of card and used a matching blue ink to stamp a small swallowtail butterfly at various angles.  Then I layer the white squares on more silver mirri card and arranged them on the card.

Finally, I opened up an old aluminium drinks can and used it to cut a 5 and a 0 with my Big Shot and attached them to the card.

Please hop across to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog to see all of the projects the rest of the Design Team have made.

Good luck with your entries.

Baby Kisses

Hi

I have a New Baby card to share with you today.

This sweet image is one of A Day for Daisies lovely mother and baby cards, this one is called 'Kisses'.

I coloured the image with a combination of Promarkers and Copic pens.  I then mounted it on some gold mirri card.  I am so disappointed that the photograph does not show how beautifully glittered the paper with the words on is, it is from a Forever Friends New Baby stack.  The polka dot paper is from Papermainia and the glittery ribbon and tiny feet charm are from my stash.

Have a good day.

Letter L

Hi

I am back today to share another of my button covered letters.  I created this one for my dear friend Lisette, aka Mrs Beez.

I purchased an 8 inch MDF letter from Barry on ebay.  I gave it a coat of Gesso and, once that was dry, I painted it lilac using pearlescent acrylic paint - his paint has a lovely textured sparkle to it.

I also purchased a bag of mixed purple/lilac buttons from ebay and used these to cover the painted letter.  Once everything was dry I cleaned any excess glue from the surface.

Bunches

Happy St George's Day.

Thank you for dropping by today.  I hope you are having a good week.

My old boss recently retired from work, she is a terrific person and a delight to work for.  A lot of people are going to miss her, she has made a difference to a lot of people's lives.

I wanted to make her a special card, she loves her garden and flowers, so I chose this little cutie from Mo's Digital Pencil, the image is called 'Bunches'.

I coloured the image with Promarkers then mounted it on silver mirri and copper coloured glitter card.  The backing paper is a frosted gold card.

I cut the butterflies from silver and red glitter card.  The flowers and hat pins are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is 'Sparkle', why not enter your sparkling creations.

A Box of Flowers

Hi

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend.  It has been very mixed weather here, but it great to be with family and everyone has been enjoying their chocolate eggs.

As you probably know, the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is 'Sparkle'.  I have another sparkling box card to share with you today.

I used a combination of floral stamps from both Stampin' Up and Sheena Douglas.  I stamped them on craft card and then I heat emboss them with white embossing powder.  Next, I coloured them with white craft ink using a little paint brush and some water.  After the white ink dried, I used my Stampin' Up pens to colour the flowers, allowing the underlying white ink to blend with the coloured pens and give a streaked effect.  Finally I glittered around the edges and along the veins of the petals

I covered the box panels with some paper from my scraps box.  I attached some of the flowers directly to the box and others I suspended from strips of acetate.  As a finishing touch I added some Stampin' Up frosted embellishments.

Twinkle, Twinkle

Hi, I hope you had a great weekend.

It's a new week and a new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges.  It is my turn to host the challenge and, because there is something of the magpie about me, I am asking you to show us some sparkle on your projects for the next two weeks.  It could be glitter, gems, mirri card, gilding flakes, in fact, anything with a reflective surface.

I do not think any of my cards escape without a little bit of sparkle and today I have a card in a box to share with you.  I really like this style of card, although they take me a lot longer to make, but I think that they are worth it.  I love the dimension and the sense of movement that they have.

I cut all of the hearts from glitter card using a Sissix Bigz die.  I used a combination of light pink, dark pink, red and white glittered cards.

The box panels are covered with even more glittered card and some silver mirri card.  The final touches were some pretty pink ribbon and a heart shaped gem.

I am looking forward to seeing your sparkling projects.  In the meantime, please hop across to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog to see all of the wonderful projects the rest of the Design Team have made.

Good luck.

A Little Chocolate Pip

Good morning

I have another Easter card to share with you today.

You may think you are having deja vu because I posted a card with this image earlier this week.  Regular visitors to my blog will recall that I have set myself a personal challenge whilst making my Easter cards this year.  Like most crafters I never throw anything away and I have a big folder of images that over the years I have printed but never used,  I also have an even bigger folder of papers left over from other projects.   So, I set myself a challenge to use up some of my 'spare' images and paper and this is why you have seen this image before.

This image is one of Sugar Nellie's Home Grown digital Sherbet Pip stamps, it is called Chocolate Pip. I coloured the image with Promarkers and Wink of Stella pens and then I mounted it on gold mirri card.  Everything else has come from my stash.

The flower were made with a Martha Stewart 'Hydrangea' punch and the butterfly is a Stampin' Up die.

Thank you for dropping by today.
