Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Quick and Simple Easter Cards

Happy Easter everyone.

Easter cards are not commonly sent in the UK but they are becoming more popular.   I only send them to one or two people and, if I am honest, I do not remember to send them every year!  This year I was full of good intentions and I had a design in mind, bought all of the bits I would need and then promptly forgot to make them - worse than that, I completely forgot until too late what I had in mind to make.

At the beginning of the week I panicked and started rampaging through my craft stash to see what I could make. I came up with a very quick and easy design.  Some card blanks, an egg shaped die by X Cut, a sheet of peel-off's, some ribbon and a page from last year's calendar.

I cut the egg shape out of the card blank and placed the ribbon and picture behind it.  Once the were secured I cut another card blank in to two cover the inside of the card.  I added the peel-off images - I have not used peel-off's for years and had forgotten how much fun they can be. Finally, I stamped a Happy Easter sentiment inside the card.

I could not decide exactly where to put the ribbon and tried is all over the place.

My inspiration for making Easter cards is my dear friend Lisette (aka Mrs Beez), who never forgets and is well organised.  Here is the stunning card she sent to me this year, isn't it gorgeous?

I hope you are enjoying the holiday.

    1. Happy Easter Carol, I hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend and the lovely weather?

Thank you for your lovely comments. I am always full of good intentions and I had saved the calendar to turn it into birthday and anniversary cards but it was not as straight forward as the calendar I up-cycled last year, so it is still on my 'To Do' list!

    1. Thank you, I am always happy to provide the light entertainment.

As you can see, I only made five cards but it seems no one has received them. So annoying, I know I did not make them until last Monday but I am pretty sure I put first class stamps on them.

I cannot believe that they only took me 20 minutes to make, which has to be a record for me. I was surprized that the calendar did not have a photo of any spring flowers - so I picked the bright yellow flowers. Perhaps next year I will remember that I bought the dies I intended to use this year .......... although I now have 5 egg shapes I could use!

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend.
