Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Primrose in the Pink

I am a big fan of Susan Hickson and her Mary Jane's Tearoom's bear and rabbit patterns, they are cute and cuddly and great fun to make.

I like to spread the love wherever I can and in recent years I have made my oldest and dearest friend one or two of these patterns.  Last year I made her Primrose Rabbit, she is such a little sweetheart.  As I also have a Primrose Rabbit of my own, my friend decided to call her rabbit Dulcie, which means Sweet.

Dulcie is dressed in shades of pink from her primrose jumper to her hair slides.  All of her clothes are made of 4 ply cotton.

Her pretty pink jumper has a primrose design in the centre and a darker pink trim around the edges.

Her knickerbockers have a picot edge and a slit in the back for her tail to got through, as indeed do her knickers.

I had a little artistic moment with her knickers and added a little floral motif around the legs.

Dulcie's Mary Jane style shoes have a strap and tiny button fastening.

I attached her flower to a brooch pin to make hair slides, or indeed a brooch.

Dulcie herself is made of 100% alpaca wool and her stockings are DK cotton.  She stands approximately 15 1/2 inches high (40cm) in her stocking feet.

A quick look at her back and you can see her lovely fluffy tail.

    1. Thank you Carol. The flowers on her shoes are the same as the one in her hair - I stitched them to little brooch pins, so they can be moved around.

    1. Oh, you do make me laugh out loud at times Carol. I have had two years off from card making and I still have not got my mojo back - mind you I am still using up that massive stock of cards I have.

I think we must be about the same age, judging by the things we have in common. Most of my typing lessons were on an old olive green typewriter, I think it was an Imperial, but occasionally I got the old black sit-up-and-beg typewriter, which you had to manually set the tabs around the back using pegs and something which looked like a comb. Those were the days when girls were taught how to type and lay-out a document. I think the boys were taught technical drawing whilst I was off breaking my nails.

    3. Oh my goodness Carol, it is as if we went to the same school. I too did a term of metal work, we made a ring with an enameled diamond shape on the top ..... and I still have it.

I agree about bringing these subjects back, especially cooking, and I see no reason why both boys and girls cannot be taught these things - so many youngsters these days seem to eat nothing but fast food.

You are just a couple of years older than us, no wonder we have so much in common.

  3. Where do I start. SO much to love here. The colours are just scrumptious, I especially love the contrast of dark and light pinks. The flower detail on the jumper is incredible and so pretty as is the hair clip. If you don't make and sell the animals and outfits, you really should make hair clips and headbands. X
