Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Romeo Bear

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and the world is good to you.

I have a number of knitting projects to share with you at the moment but I want to pace my posts because knitting projects take a lot longer than cards, but it is hard to decide which to show you first.  However, I am so excited about this one and I could not wait to show you any longer.

This is Romeo Bear, he is another pattern from Susan Hickson and Mary Jane's Tearoom.  You can buy the pattern on-line from Ravelry.  I think he has to be my favourite knitted project so far, isn't he is a cutie?

I made Romeo Bear and his clothes from 100% alpaca wool - he is so warm and soft and utterly cuddly.  He stands 14.5 inches tall.

He has less clothing than the other Mary Jane's Tearoom projects I have made but it is such a smart outfit.

His jumper features a hearts and kisses design, although I originally thought it was strawberries and crossed knives and forks.  LOL!

I think these dungarees are super sweet.  The pattern gives a reference for the little wooden heart buttons, unfortunately I was unable to track them down, but I managed to find these wooden buttons on ebay - between the two of us they are all decorated on the other side but you cannot see the reverse once they are stitched in place.

As you can see, his walking boots match his dungarees.

His socks are part of his legs and do not come off.  Oh, and no, that is not an optical illusion, he really does have pretty big feet.

This was my first attempt at stitching a bears nose, I was feeling pretty pleased with myself when it was finished.

It is a little difficult to see but he has a little heart stitched in his ear.

Thank you for dropping by today, I hope you like Romeo Bear.  I have just started making his friend Candy, fingers crossed I will be able to share her with you in the not too distant future.

Have a great week.

    1. Thank you Carol. I am becoming quite addicted to making these but I am struggling to get the faces right, I think because knitting stretches the epression chenges every time you touch it and I can never get them to look like the pattern. Oh dear!

    3. Thank you. However, I am never satidfied with my own work. I have had another go at his nose since these photos were taken. I am sure most people would not see a differnece but I have got the top line a little straighter. I just cannot help myself it seems.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind and generous comments but I should explain that it is not me who names them. They have been named by the designer, the pattern for this one is called 'Romeno Bear'.

      Have a great week.

    3. Yep and each one is appropriate to the design ie this one is all hearts and others are named after the flowers featured in their design.
