Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Welcome Little One

Hi, thank you for dropping by.

We seem to be enjoying a small 'glut' of pregnancies at the moment and I have been busy making new baby cards and knitting tiny cardigans.

This little sweetie is Butterfly Baby from Saturated Canary.

I colored the image with Promarkers and layered it with gold mirri card and papers from a Forever Friends stack and the polka dot paper is from Papermania.

The ribbon, charm and flat backed gems are from my ever growing stash.

I do not think I have shared any of my knitting projects on here before but as several people have been kind enough to ask to see them, I thought this would be a good time to start.

I taught myself to knit less than a year ago so I am not very experienced yet.

Have a good day.

Bring Me Sunshine

Good morning, I hope you are well and ready for the new week.

We have a new challenge starting at Crafty Boots Challenges today.  The theme for the next two weeks is 'Sunshine' and it was chosen by the lovely Kerry.

I was initially undecided about my Design Team project for this challenge.  However, my brother-in-law is currently unwell and as soon as I started to think about a get well card for him, I instantly knew how I wanted it to look.

I wanted something bright and cheerful, something that would bring a little colour to his hospital room.  Something with lots of cheerful yellow and, of course, my version of the sun.

My happy little giraffe is from Teddy Bo & Co, he is called "Jolly the G .... Jiraffe".  I coloured the image with Promarkers and Copic pens.  My backing papers are from a K & Company stack by Tim Coffey.  My 'sun' is a Memory Box die and the little butterfly punch is by Martha Stewart.  Both the flat backed gems and the organza ribbon are from my stash.

The rest of the Design Team have been very busy making projects to inspire you, please take a look at the Crafty Boots Challenges page and good luck.

Mother Loves Me

Hi

How are you today?

My neighbours recently had the most gorgeous baby girl, she is so cute.  There is something about a new baby, isn't there?

This is another of A Day for Daisies beautiful new baby images, this one is called 'Mother Loves Me'.

I coloured the image with a combination of Promarkers and Copic pens.   I then mounted it on some gold mirri card.  I think that you can just about make out the glittering on the background paper, which is from a Forever Friends stack, is.  The polka dot paper is from Papermainia  and the ribbon, pram charm and flat backed gems are from my stash.

I wanted to make a little something for her, so I knitted a couple of tiny cardigans to go with the card I made.

They are very small but she is so tiny herself, I think it will be a while before they fit her.

More Thank You Cards

Hi

As you probably know, the current theme at Crafty Boots Challenges is 'Anything Goes'.  Last Monday I shared with you some Thank You cards I had made for my Design Team project.  Whilst I was making those cards I had an idea for another way of using the same card and stamps to get a different look.

As with the other thank you card, apart from the gold mirri card and blank cards, which are Craftwork Cards, all of the materials I used are by Stampin' Up.

I stamped the buttterfly in Whisper White and the card colours are:

Garden Green
Perfect Plum
Raspberry Ripple
Midnight Muse

Don't forget to pop over to the Crafty Boots Challenges website and enter your project.

Purple Haze

Hi

Oh dear, I have become a bit of an addict as far as decorated letters are concerned and I love making them for my family and friends.  Here is another.

I purchased an 8 inch MDF letter 'C' from Barry on ebay.  I gave it a coat of Gesso then, once that was dry, I painted it lilac using acrylic pearlescent paint - I love this colour.

I also purchased a bag of mixed purple/lilac buttons from ebay and used these to cover the painted letter.  Once everything was dry I cleaned away the excess glue from the surface.

Thank You Cards

Good Morning

Traditionally today is the Twelth Day of Christmas or, if you prefer, Twelth Night, which means that by the end of today you should take your Christmas decorations down, that is if you have not already done so - although I know that some people believe that the twelth day was actually yesterday but I have never counted it so.  For the last 12 days my good friend Mrs Beez has been sharing her take on the popular Christmas carol 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.  Her designs have been imaginative and very humorous.

Today also sees the start of a new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges and as a little post Christmas treat the theme is 'Anything Goes'.

I decided that as it is almost two weeks since Christmas Day, it was high time I got my thank you cards written, but first I needed to make them.  I think my current favourite stamp is the Swallowtail Butterfly stamp from Stampin' Up and I have used that stamp for my cards.

Apart from the white card and blank cards, which are Craftwork Cards, all of the materials I used are by Stampin' Up.

I used textured white card to give the distressing a more interesting look and I made 2 cards of each colour combination.  The card and ink colours I used are:

Cherry Cobbler
Perfect Plum
Garden Green
Midnight Muse
Raspberry Ripple

I need to make a few more 'Thank You' cards, I was such  lucky girl, so I have better get my ink and stamps back out.

Whilst I am doing that, why don't you pop over to the Crafty Boots Challenges website and take a look at the fabulous creations the rest of the DT have made.

Have a great day.
