Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Walkie and Talkie Strike Again!

Hi

Close followers of my blog will know that this month my dear friend and DT buddy Lisette, aka Mrs Beez, has decided that all of her projects will feature a butterfly to show her support and raise awareness of the charity Amy and Friends and the work they do to for children suffering from Cockayne Syndrome.

Mrs Beez has invited me to join her quest by making a few things of my own with butterflies on them.  I have never been asked to do anything this important before and I was honoured to be asked, and yes, I did get a bit carried away.

Today I have another birthday card to share with you.

These adorable little stamps are from Saturated Canary and are called Walkie and Talkie. Since the first time I saw them I had the idea of trying to make a card where their strings met up when the card  was closed.

It was not as straight forward as I initially imagined.  After a couple of false starts, I cut around the images in order to line them up with the edge of the card.  I then mounted them on white card and purple pearlescent card.

I coloured the stamped images with Promarkers, the backing paper is by Dove Craft and the fabulous lace trim is from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The butterfly dies are from Memory Box.

Please visit Mrs Beez's blog to find out more about the work of Amy and Friends and, whilst you are there, don't forget to check out her fabulous blog candy giveaway.
