Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Trick or Treat Wryns

It is trick or Treat time at Crafty Boots Challenges where for the next two weeks we should like to see either your Halloween projects or your Autumnal designs - or, if you are feeling very industrious, both.

I have another Halloween card to share with you today, it features another Tiddly Inks image called 'Trick or Treat Wryns'.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on some gold mirri.  The backing paper is from Bearly Mine, which is sadly no longer with us.  The spiders came from my local garden centre and the bow is a Marianne Design Creatables die.

Don't forget to visit the Crafty Boots blog and enter your work.

All Hallows' Eve

It is time for a new Challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges and for the next two weeks there is a choice of theme.  You can chose between either 'Autumn' or 'Halloween'.

Over the past four or five years, Halloween has become extremely popular in my family, it is really with the arrival of the great grandchildren.  Even I have been known to dress up to answer the door when the local children come 'trick or treating'.

I have made Halloween shaker cads for my young niece and nephew using this cute Tiddly Inks image called 'Spooky Pup'.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and, as you can see, I used 'Halloween Shapes' confetti - pumpkins, skulls and spiders, in my shaker card.

The papers are from Bearly Mine, unfortunately they are no longer available.  The spiders came from my local garden centre and the Marianne Design Creatables bow die is a recent birthday present to myself.

The rest of the design team have been hard at work making inspirational pieces, make sure you take a look when you enter your project.

Good luck.

Wear your Pink Ribbon with Pride

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and, in recognition of this, the current Crafty Boots Challenge is to use pink in your project. Your project does not have to be about Breast Cancer Awareness, although it is great to get the message out there, you just have to use pink somewhere in your project.

What better image to get the message out there to wear your pink ribbon with pride than this one from Teddy Bo & Co called 'What a Jolly Bow'.  I coloured Jolly with pink Promarkers and mounted him on some pink papers from my stash and some gold mirri.  I also added a loop of pink ribbon.

There is still time to enter your pink projects into this Crafty Boots Challenge.

Good luck.

Autumn Butterflies

I mentioned that hubby and I had been away celebrating our anniversary.  I wanted to share with you the gorgeous card we received from my good friend Lisette, aka Mrs Beez.  Isn't it a stunner?

And it wasn't alone in the envelope.  Lisette very generously sent me this fabulous poppy booch, I adore the way it sparkles.  It is now on my jacket, so everyone else can admire it when I go shopping.

I think that butterflies must be in the air, so to speak, because Lisette's card was not the only butterfly we were given last week.  We also had this fabulous cake, I still cannot get over how amazing it looked.

But. it did not just look good, it was one of the best cakes I have tasted in many years - but just between the two of us, I could not bring myself to eat those gorgeous little butterflies.

Ribbon, Lace and Hearts

Can you think of a more romantic combination than ribbon, lace and hearts?  Last week it was our lots and lots of years wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for my OH.

I went totally OTT on the romantic stake, but I figured it was worth is as we were going away for 10 days .  We had a fantastic time staying at a seaside hotel in Suffolk, which was the perfect combination of old and new, with great food .... I really enjoyed sampling their  cocktails.

Back to the card, the gold hearts were cut with a Memory Box die and backed with pink glitter card.  the sentiment is by Kanban Crafts and everything else came from my stash.

This very pink creations would be just the ticket for the current Crafty Boots Challege, which is to use pink in your project.

Jolly Pink

I think I may have mentioned once or twice that we have recently been blessed with a small handful of little girls born into the family.

Here is the card I made for another of my nieces and her husband to welcome their beautiful baby daughter, Mary.

This cute toy Giraffe is from Teddy Bo & Co and is called 'Jolly the G ..... Jiraffe!'  After colouring him with Promarkers, I mounted it on some gold mirri and pink pearlescent card.  The backing papers are from a Forever Friends, new baby stack.  The sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Of course, I did not go empty handed when I visited, I took a couple of tiny cardigans for the new baby.

One in pink....

and one in white.

This card fits in perfectly with the current Crafty Boots Challenge, which is to use pink in your project.

Just Buzzzing By

It is already Mid Challenge reminder time at Crafty Boots Challenges, where we are celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month with a 'Pink' challenge.

This Tiddly Inks image reminded me of all those wonderful ladies who dress in pink to do the 'Race for Life' in order to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness, I thank you all for caring.  The image is called 'Happy Bee Day' and looks a real treat all dressed in pink.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted her on gold mirri and pink glitter card.  I cut the Memory Box butterfly from gold mirri and added some flat backed gems.  The ribbon is from my stash and the Breast Cancer Awareness sentiment is from McMahon Five Designs, which is sadly no longer with us.

Do not forget to enter your pink projects into this Crafty Boots Challenge, and good luck.

Another Anniversary

It's Friday again, where do the weeks go?

The current Crafty Boots Challenge is 'Pink'.  Here is quick and simple wedding anniversary card using the Memory Box Butterfly Exhibit die.

I inked the edges of the card with pink and mounted it on red pearlised card and inked in the corners of a frame using a marker pen.  The stamp is from Stampin' Up and I made the hearts using a punch.  The sentiment is from my Kanban Crafts stash.

Have a good weekend.

With This Ring

Hi

I thought I had scheduled this post for last Friday, but I must have done something wrong because it never happened.  I made this card for Crafty Boots 'Silver or Gold' Challenges, which ended last Sunday.  Opps!

It is a CAS design but I love the simplicity.  I layered gold mirri and some Stampin' Up silver Glimmer Paper.  The sentiment is also a Stampin' Up stamp.  The ribbon and rings were from my stash.

In the Pink

Monday morning again.  I hope you had a good weekend.  We spent the weekend with our oldest and dearest friends, we have known each other so long we are family.  It was a fantastic weekend and great to get together.

It is time for a new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges and for the next two weeks the theme of the challenge is 'Pink'.  I am playing host to this Challenge and I wanted to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Breast cancer can affect men as well as women, according to Cancer Research UK a staggering 1,300 women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.  As many of you will know, October is set aside every year, not just in the UK but all around the world, to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise money for research into this disturbingly common cancer.  The colour pink has become synonymous with this event.

Use pink in your project to show support for this event and make sure you check yourself regularly for any changes in your breast tissue.

There seems to be lots and lots of new babies about at the moment, we had three little girls join our family over the last month or so.  I have been making sure I get my fair share of cuddles.

This little sweetheart is from Mo's Digital Pencil, it is called Baby Shower.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on pink pearlescent card and gold mirri.  The backing paper is from my stash and the sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Knitting came to me rather late in life but I have discovered a new obsession, knitting tiny cardigans for tiny people.  With three new little girls in the family, my knitting needles have been in hyperdrive. Here are a few of my latest creations .....

The Crafty Boots Design Team have been inspired by this Challenge and they have made so amazing projects, please take a peek for yourself.

Flower of the Holy Night

I have another of my gold cards to share with you today.  This one features a Stampin' Up stamp of a poinsettia - did you know that it is sometimes called the Flower of the Holy Night?  I stumbled across this little bit of information on the internet a few days ago.

I stamped the image onto some linen effect card several, using gold ink.  I then cut out the flower following the different layers.  I curled the leaves and used some glue gel to layer up my flower.  I then embossed some white card and layered it with gold mirri card.  Finally I added some red flat backed gems to the centre of the flower.

Golden Butterfly

It is time for the mid challenge reminder at Crafty Boots Challenges - Monday mornings seem to come around faster and faster.  The current challenge is to use silver and/or gold in your project.

It was the birthday of one of my favourite aunts on Saturday, she was 87 years old.  I wanted to make a special card for this special lady.  She rang me this morning to thank me for the card and to say that it was the best card she had ever been sent, that meant so much to me.

I cut the butterfly using a Sizzix texture fades die and gold mirri.  I played around with it for a bit before deciding to cover it with some chunky glitter and gold flakes.  A photograph cannot do justice to the sparkle of this glitter, it really catches the light.  Once it was dry I decorated it with some flat backed gems and couple of baby's breath flowers.

I then layered some silver glitter card and more gold mirri.  I added some lace and lemon polka dot grosgrain ribbon.

There is still plenty of time for you to enter your gold and silver projects into this challenge.

Good luck.

Gold Star

A pinch and a punch it's the first of the month, is something we said when I was a child - and being children we followed it up with a pinch and a punch.  However there was a second line to the rhyme, a pinch and a kick for  being so quick!

The current Crafty Boots challenge is to use gold and/or silver in your project and I have another gold card to share with you today.

This card features one of the Stampin' Up star stamps, which I stamped with gold ink onto some white linen effect card, I then cut it out and layered it onto some gold mirri card.  I then cut three strips of the mirri card, one I left plain, another I layered some gold glitter card onto and the third I covered in some chunky glitter.  I embossed some white card and layered this onto some more gold mirri card.  I added a Stampin' Up sentiment and some flat backed gems.

There is still plenty of time for you to enter your gold and silver projects into this Crafty Boots Challenge.
