Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

You are Invited to Dinner

Good morning

What a fabulous weekend we have had, summer has at last arrived.  I hope that, where ever you are, you also had a wonderful weekend.

It's time for a new challenge at Craft Boots Challenges and for the next two weeks the theme is 'Bows'.  This bowtastic challenge was chosen by our fabulous leader Stephanie-Emma, but this challenge is a little more than just bows.  To mark the arrival of the first digital stamps at the Crafty Boots on-line store this is also an 'Anything Goes' challenge and. if you use one of the new and exclusive Crafty Boots digi stamps, you will get additional entries into the prize draw.

If you go to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog you can see the rules for this challenge and read about the fantastic prize draw.

I chose to make a card using Clyde the Penguin from the Daffy;s Digis range- isn't he cute?  Something about Clyde reminded me of a waiter so I decided to use this stamp on an invitation to dinner.

After colouring Clyde with Promarkers I added glitter to his white 'bib and I made a bow tie using some deep red organza ribbon.

I cut out the image and mounted it onto a sheet of acetate.  I also cut out 3 more penguin shapes to stick on the inside and back of the card to hide the sticky on the back of Clyde.  I then printed my dinner party invitation to go inside the card.

I should like to say a huge welcome to four new members of the Crafty Boots Design Team, they are:

These ladies are amazing and I know that you are going to love their work, so make sure you checkout their blogs when you have a moment to spare.  In the meantime, the other members of the design team have been busy coming up with some wonderful creations, why not pop across to the Crafty Boots Challenges blog and see for yourself.  Don't forget to enter the challenge whilst you are there.

Good luck.

Good Luck Horseshoe

Good morning

This will probably be my last post for the current Crafty Boots Challenge, which is all about 'Good Luck'.

I recently attended one of the Crafty Boots workshops, this particular one was on 'Creating Effects using Alcohol Inks'.  We experimented with a number of different effects.  I use my favourite effect to create a base on this MDF horseshoe.

As you can see, I first covered my horseshoe shape with a purple and silver mottle effect.

I then added three ribbons, of white polka dot organza, white satin and silver, and a string of silver beads to form the handle.  I also wrapped part of the horseshoe with the ribbons and beads.  Next I added a number of roses from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Finally I added a little card I cut out with my Spellbinders and I added a good luck message using silver peel-off letters.

A horseshoe is thought to bring good luck and they are traditionally given to brides on their wedding day and I really wanted to create one for this challenge.  There is still time for you to enter the Crafty Boots Good Luck Challenge, good luck!

Good Luck in Your New Home

Good morning

It's been a while since I last made a stepper card and this one was so much fun to make.

The image is from Hope Jacare Doodles over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps.   I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on gold mirri card.

The large butterflies die is a Marianne Designs Creatable die and the smaller one is a Memory Box die and I added some bling with some flat backed gems.  The birdhouse and bunting paper is from a Papermania stack.

I really enjoyed making cards for the current Crafty Boots Challenge, I hope you have as much fun making yours.

Daffy Sherbet Pip with Daffidils

Hi

Wednesday already, the weekend will be here before we know it.  I hope your week is going well.

I have made a quick card using one of the new Sherbet Pip digital stamps from Funky Kits, this one is called Daffy Pip.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and  used Martha Stewart punches to create a pretty design around the edge of a sheet of contrasting paper by Dovecraft.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts an the sentiment is by Craftwork Cards.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Good Luck with Your Driving Test

Good morning

Isn't this  Teddy Bo & Co image adorable?  I have been looking for the right card to use this image on and the current Crafty Boots 'Good Luck' Challenge seemed perfect.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on gold mirri card.  I also created the 'L' driving plate on my computer.  I tried tearing the 'L' plate in half but that did not look right, so in the end I left it whole and used foam pads to mount it onto the card.  The pretty blue backing paper is from Dovecraft.

First Day of School

Hi

How was your weekend?  I have been away for a few days.  I had a wonderful time but now it is back to the washing and ironing and, as soon as I get a few minutes, checking all my friend's blogs to see what they have been up to whilst I have been away.

There is still another week to run on the current Crafty Boots Challenge.  The current theme is 'Good Luck'.  I have made this twister easel card to wish my nephew Good Luck when he starts school in September, I know I am a little bit early but the challenge will not be running then!

The image is from Mo's Digital  Pencil and is called Yale.

The papers are by DoveCraft and the peel off's and ribbon are from my stash.

I hope you have a fabulous week and don't forget to pop by the Crafty Boots Challenge blog and enter the challenge.

Chocolate Pip with Basket of Roses

Hi

How has your week been, can you believe that it is Friday already?

Regular visitors to my blog will know that the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenge is 'Good Luck'.    I have made  this good luck card using one of the new Sherbet Pip digital stamps from Funky Kits, this one is called Chocolate Pip.

I distressed the card using Stormy Skies and Pine Needles Ranger Distress Inks and added a doilie.  I coloured the image with pro markers and WOS pens.

The basket originally contained Easter eggs but I cut around them and added some Wild Orchid Crafts roses in their place.  The fabric butterfly I have had for some time and cannot remember where it came from.

Thank you for stopping by to read my blog, I would love you to leave a comment if you have the time.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Good Luck Challenge

Good morning.

I hope you had a good weekend.  In the UK we had some fabulous sunshine, which was so welcome after the past few weeks of rain.  However, the sunshine did not last long and this morning it is cold and raining again!

As I get older time seems to pass by faster and faster and I cannot believe that it is time for a new Crafty Boots Challenge.  The theme for the next two weeks is 'Good Luck', this theme was set by the lovely Sara.

There are a lot of reasons we send good luck cards to friends and family, perhaps to wish them well when they start a new job, or when they retire, or move home, or take a test.  At the moment students up and down the country will soon be sitting their exams.  Other people may be about to embarking on an exciting new venture.

My DT card is to celebrate a marriage, as well as wishing the happy couple every happiness for the future.

This particular happy couple is from Teddy Bo & Co.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and WOS (not that you can see the sparkly veil in my photo), I mounted the image on gold mirri card and used Martha Stewart punches to create a pretty design around the edge of a sheet of lemon glitter card.

The gorgeous roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The bells and die cut heart are from my stash.

It is the first time I have ever tried punching around the page (although I have had the punches years) and, as you can see, I got a little carried away and continued on the inside of the card using paper from Dovecraft.

I am sure you can think of lots of reasons to send a good luck card, so why not pop over to the Crafty Boots Challenge blog and enter the challenge.  Whilst you are there, make sure you check out the amazing creations by the rest of the Design Team.

You can also find details on the blog for the Crafty Boots Design Team call.

Happy crafting.

Candy Pip with Yellow Daisies

Good morning

I have a large pile of coloured images that haven't quite made it into cards, this was one of them.

I recently purchased these sunny yellow daisies from Wild Orchid Crafts and I remembered this image with its pretty yellow daisies, I think they go so well together.  I just had to make them into a card so I could share it with you.

The stamp is from the Sugar Nellie's Home Grown range and is callled Candy Sherbet Pip.  I coloured her with Promarkers and the paper is from a Polka Doodle CD.  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

The whole range of Sherbet Pip stamps are a delight to colour and I think I shall have to get the rest of the range out again soon.

Aye Aye Captain!

Hi

How was your weekend?  It has been pretty wet here and it looks like we are about to have another shower.

I have another Mo Manning image to share with you today.  I actually purchased this image from Mo's Digital Pencil for the Crafty Boots Nautical Challenge.  However, at the time, I never got around to turning it into a card.

I coloured Captain Hugh with Promarkers and Fleximarkers and cut it out with Nesties. The herring gull background paper is from a Faye Whittaker CD and the anchor charm is from Cards and Craft.

Have a great week.

Mariko is Mad

Hi everyone

Another miserable Bank Holiday weekend by the looks of things.  My antidote to all this rain is crafting ..........................

My hubby has settled down in front of the TV for an afternoon of sport in preparation for a certain football (soccer) match later today so I am here with my laptop, Promakers and story tapes - ahh, the secret to a happy a marriage!

I am currently into Mo Mannings stamps and recently purchased this image at Mo's Digital Pencil.  The design is called Mariko is Mad and I just love her expression, I know a little girl who has this expression in her repertoire!

I have coloured her, and her long suffering bunny, with Promarkers and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.  The papers are from a number of places, the large polka dot is from a Polka Doodles CD and the small polka dot and the gingham check are from a new paper pack but I cannot remember the make I'm afraid.  The silver mirri is from C&C.

Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope that you are enjoying it.  I think I am going to colour another of my recent purchases.
