Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

A good friend recently asked me if I could make her a couple of cards for her parent's Golden Wedding Anniversary.

I felt that such a special occasion merited something a bit special, so I got out my gilding flakes and glitter and this is what I came up with (I made more than she asked for, so that she had a choice, but she actually tucked all of them into her handbag and took them home.)

All of these stunning images came from the Polka Doodles Love and Cherish CD.

I printed two copies of each image and cut around the heart from one of the images before gilding it.  Once the heart was glued into place on the second image I embellished the cards with an assortment of ribbon, flat backed gems and glitter.  The images were mounted onto Hunkydory mirri card.

I made one other card for her .....

I was a little more adventurous making this card.

I used a sheet of Claritystamp double sided adhesive and the stamp is PSX Country Church/Chapel K-1912.

Stamping the image of the church on one side of the sheet of double sided adhesive and left it to dry.  Once dry, I covered the image with a sheet of acetate.  Turning the sheet over, I carefully cut out the image of the church using my craft knife.  I removed the church section from the backing sheet (taking care to leave the paper covering the windows in place) and covered the exposed area with silver gilding flakes.  Once this was done I was able to remove the rest of the backing paper and cover the remaining area with gold gilding flakes.

I used a Nestability die to cut an aperture into the mount.

I hope her parents have a wonderful anniversary later this month.

  1. You are truly blessed with an amazing talent!! Your creations are far more than mere cards, but are true works of art! The passion you have for your craft can be seen in all the meticulous details and the touches of love you put into each item you create. I can see why your friend took them all, as each one is a masterpiece...I envision them being framed and displayed for all to admire.

I also wanted to thank you for explaining the inspiration behind "Earthdancer". It was wonderful knowing why Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum created such a sublime pattern. I loved your creation the first time I saw it, but now I have an even deeper appreciation for this lovely image. Thank you for not only creating and sharing your beautiful works of heart, but for also sharing your knowledge. I found the information very enlightening and extremely touching:)

    Have a blissful weekend!

    Hugs,
    Carolyn

  2. To save your printer printing out two copies... when I did cards like this I just cut the heart out of the image and then stuck the adhesive sheets behind and gilded it... Great cards xxx
