Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Get Ready to Party!

Good morning.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today and a special welcome to anyone finding their way here for the first time.

There is a new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges this morning, isn't it amazing how quickly these special Monday's come around?

The challenge is to design a gift tag or an invitation for a special event, for instance, Christmas, or a birthday, or an anniversary, or Halloween this challenge was set by the gorgeous Sara.

I was very tempted to design an invitation for Christmas or the New Year party but as there seems to be so much excitement around Halloween this year I decided on a Halloween Party Invitation in the end.

This image is by Sylvia Zet, I find all of her images really adorable, I do not think my niece and nephew will be scared (note to self, make sure you type scared, and not scarred, although, come to think of it, either would be appropriate!) of these two little sweeties.

The image is called Batty Boo!

I coloured the image with Promarkers and used mirri card and some glittered card to mount it.  The ribbons are from my stash.

The rest of the design Team have created some amazing projects, please hop across to the Crafty Boots Challenge blog to see them for yourself and, whilst you are there, don't forget to enter your own creations into the Challenge.

Good luck.

A Jolly Spring Clean

Good morning

All go here today, all these fabulous Teddy Bo & Co images about spring cleaning, which I have been using to illustrate the current Crafty Boots Challenge, have finally given me a big enough hint and I have got my bucket and mop out and started to put a bit of the sparkle back around here...... only joking, would I clean when I could be crafting!

This image is called Jolly Cleans up High, well where else would you expect a giraffe to clean!

After colouring the image with Promarkers, I added Glossy Accents to the bucket to give it a bit of a shine.  The image is mounted on silver mirri card.  Both the glittered  floral paper and the fabulous cup cake paper are from a Papermania stack designed by Lucy Cromwell .  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.  The doily and the little gems are from my stash.  Finally, I added a little piece of butter muslin

Cleaning Up!

Good morning

These Teddy Bo & Co spring cleaning images are a great deal of fun but I am not sure under what circumstances you would send a card about cleaning up to anyone.  However, I might be temped to send this image, which is called Cleaner Bo, to my husband if he ever gets around to cleaning the car!

I coloured the image with Promarkers, then I mounted it on some silver mirri and some black card.  I added a little Glossy Accents to the bucket and polish tin to give them a shiny finish.  The paper is from a Forever Friends stack.  The glittery organza ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

There is still plenty of time for you to enter the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges, which is all about Home.

Happy Birthday Eileen

Hi

A very quick post today, it is my cousin Eileen's birthday today.

This little sweetie is from Sylvia Zet, the image is called Sweet Blossom.

After colouring the image with Promarkers I added the odd hint of glitter from my WOS.  I then mounted it on gold mirri card.  The paper is from a Forever Friends stack.

Happy birthday Eileen, have a great day.

Teddy Bo Lends a Hand

Hi and a special welcome to anyone finding their way to my blog for the first time.

For those people who have been here before, I should like to thank you for returning and for leaving your incredibly kind comments.  I treasure each and every one.

Today I have another Teddy Bo & Co image to share with you.  I was inspired to use these images of Teddy Bo and Teddy Bea lending a hand with the cleaning when I found out about the current challenge theme of Home at Crafty Boots Challenges.

(Oh, I almost forgot, this image is called "What soap, where?!?!?!",)

After colouring the image with Promarkers, I added Glossy Accents to the bucket to give it the look of plastic.  The image is mounted on both gold and black card.  The glittered floral paper and the polka dot paper is from a Papermania stack designed by Lucy Cromwell .  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the twine is from my stash.  Finally, I added a little piece of butter muslin and a shiny red button to represent a floor cloth and a tin of polish. Opps, you've missed a spot Teddy Bo!

Good luck.

Spring Cleaning

Good morning

Time seems to fly by, doesn't it?  It is time for another challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme for the next two weeks was set by the fabulous Emma and it is Home.

It is a great subject to let your imagination go wild.  I have chosen this fun image from Teddy Bo & Co called  Spring Cleaning High.  Clearly Teddy Bea has as many spiders as I am finding at the moment!

After colouring the image with Promarkers I mounted it on some gold card and some black card.  I then added some brads and pearls, the lace is from Ribbonbox.  I also added a little Glossy Accents to the bucket and atomiser to give them that plastic look.  The papers are by Dovecraft.

The rest of the Design Team have come up with some amazing ideas, don't forget to visit their blogs.  Also, don't forget to enter your projects into the Challenge, I look forward to seeing them.

Good luck.

Witch Hazel

Hi

I am afraid I am rather late posting today, it has taken me ages to load these photos onto my blog.

Yesterday I mentioned that I have recently thinking a lot about appropriate colours and I have been experimenting with a couple Halloween images.  This time I have been using a really sweet Sylvia Zet image called Hazel and I have experimented with a number of colour schemes.

After colouring them with my Promarkers I gave each image a double mount.  In keeping with the current Crafty Boots Challenge Three, I added three Craftwork Card Candi to each and a bow using three different coloured ribbons.

I suppose I did get a little carried away with all these cards, especially when you consider that I do not actually send Halloween cards, but there was a little bit of me that wanted to use some more of these gorgeous free papers from Bearly Mine

I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Take Two

"Nanny Ogg had never believed it at the start, but Magrat Garlick, wet as a sponge though she was half the time, had been dead right about one thing.  Three was a natural number for witches."
Maskerade - Terry Pratchett  1995

-oOo-

My apologies for not posting for a while, but I have been a bit under the weather, I'm feeling much better today and thought I would share some thoughts with you.

When I first saw the Saturated Canary image Witchkeys I knew exactly how I wanted to colour it, in my mind I could see  it in rich autumnal colours and that it how I made it for my DT piece for the current Crafty Boots Challenge.

However, as I sat colouring the image I began to think about how I would set about colouring it if I were to dress them in the more traditional witches black and this started a whole process of thinking about alternative colours and if it were appropriate for a witch to wear, for instance, pastels.  I just had to find out .......

Same girls, same design, just different colours for comparison.  This is my modern take,

And the more traditional look,

I coloured the images with my Promarkers and mounted them twice.  The gorgeous cobweb papers are a freebie from Bearly Mine.  Finally I added a double bow, made from shimmery organza ribbon.

Three of a Kind

Good morning

I hope that you had a fine weekend and that today is a good day for you.

We have a brand new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges today.  The theme of this challenge was selected by the very talented Emma and it is Three, three of anything you choose.

As soon as I read Emma's instructions for this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do, I had seen this image from Saturated Canary some time ago and I had been looking for an excuse to use it.

The image is called Witchkeys.  I coloured it with my Promarkers and mounted it on gold and black card.  I should like to thank Elaine for pointing me in the direction of the cobweb paper, which I got from Donna at Bearly Mine.  Finally I added a double bow, made from gold and brown shimmery organza.

The rest of the design Team have created some amazing projects, please hop across to the Crafty Boots Challenge blog to see them for yourself and don't forget to enter the Challenge with your own creations whilst you are there.

Good luck.
