Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Cheers - It's a Birthday Card

I hope you are well and not adversely affected by the extreme heat we are currently experiencing here in the UK.

I have recently found my way back to my crafty stash to make a few birthday cards. July is very 'birthday heavy' in my family, so I have been busy with card, scissors and double sided tape.

I made this card for my husband using papers from an old Kanban Crafts kit I bought many years ago from QVC. The sentiment, ribbon and flat backed gems are from the same kit whilst the pre-coloured image is from Hunkydory. Although all of the papers in this kit are really lush, I do not know why I have been hoarding them (along with all of the other papers I find it hard to part with) for years. Why do we do that, it got so bad at one point that I would buy one set to use and another to keep!

I shall be back with more cards soon.

  1. Great to see you back Dionne and thankfully weather cooler today but still no sign of rain! Happy birthday to your hubby and love the card and beautiful paper and the image is perfect -a glass of wine lol.I still have papers bought from K&C from QVC in the Dawn Bibby days wouldn't like to hazard a guess how old they are -mind you think it's the ones I wasn't keen on that are left lol

    1. Hi Carol

I had a moment of madness at the height of the heat wave and got out my crafty bits as it was too hot to knit. Sadly no hand coloured images because I still have not sorted out my printer, but I did go a bit mad with the Glossy Accents, te he. I loved the K & Co papers from those Dawn Bibby days and still have papers somewhere. I would wait up for midnight when they had a 'Today's Special Value' - otherwise it would be sold out by the time I got home from work.

Like you, it has been slightly cooler here today but still no sign of the promised rain, I'm not a fan of these temperature, I would rather it were cold than this hot. I hope you are feeling better.

  2. Cooler still today thankfully at least when it's cold you can get warm -but when it's roastingly ridiculous you have no chance of cooling down!!! It was Dawn Bibby that got me into cardmaking-she has a lot too answer to wonder if I could sue her? lol

    1. Ha ha, I was card making a bit before I discovered QVC but Dawn was responsible for a steady drain on my bank account. Those were the days. xx

  3. Finally seem to have overcome the gremlins - although not on my 'phone sadly :( This is very stylish, I hope Ray appreciated it. Saving crafty stash for best is definitely a thing. I'm trying to be better at just using it but......xxx

    1. Hello MrsBeez, it is lovely to see you here again, I have missed your cheery comments. This push to use up some of the QVC/C&C boxes I have upstairs is to create space for new stuff - although hubby would prefer to reclaim our dining room!

I hope you have a good weekend.
