Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Silver Gray Cardigan with Roses

A little while ago I posted a toddler's lavender cardigan.  I shall let you into a little secret, I made the cardigan for my little niece but she had one of those growing spurts and, by the time I had finished making the cardigan, it was too small for her - which is such a shame because it really was a pretty colour.

So, I decided to have another go, I chose this very soft silver grey Double Knit yarn to make it in this time.  It really is wonderfully soft but, when it was made up, I realsied that it is rather a drab colour for a little girl.

I started to think about ways to cheer it up and hit upon the idea of embroidered flowers.  I had planned to do a row of roses around the neckline as well as these little groupings.  However, I have never tried this before and it was not quite as neat as I was hoping, so I abandoned my plan for a string of roses around the neck.

I love this decorative panel along the bottom of the cardigan and a moss stitch boarder.  The pattern is a old Sidar Supersoft one, reference number 3101.
