Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Uh Oh - It's Fairy Elephant

I know I have rather swamped you with posts recently but I really wanted to share this one with you day.  This sweet Fairy Elephant is too large to sit on top of our Christmas Tree but she is a present for my small niece and hopefully her story will become part of her Christmas tradition.

This adorable elephant is another 'teddy' from the Knitables Collection.  I keep meaning to measure these toys before I wrap them so I can tell you how large they are, I am guessing that each on measure approximately 18 inches tall.  This one was made in double knit yarn

Her outfit is also part of the collection.  It too is made in double knit yarn, silver metallic thread and Stylecraft Eskimo double knit,

Here we have the naked photographs so you can see the body and joints.

And a close-up of the head so you can look at those sweet little tusks and fabulous ears.

Not forgetting that tail.

As I mentioned above, this pattern requires quite a lot of silver metallic thread to give the outfit it magical twinkle.

The skirt of the tutu has a beautiful lacy pattern and yet more silver trim.

The crown also has the lacy pattern and silver trim.

Her ballet slippers have long ties, so they twist around her legs, neatly criss crossing and ending with a neat bow at the back.

Her wings are attached to the tutu, and are made in the most amazing Stylecraft Eskimo double knit, is it incredibly soft and so fluffy it is difficult to tell that they are actually knitted

Isn't she simply adorable?

I should like to take this opportunity to wish you, and your family, a very happy Christmas - no matter how far apart you may be.

    1. Thank you Mrs Beez. I suppose the big question is, would you want the associated story book as well - so Mr Beez could read it to you every Christmas Eve?
