Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.


I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Summer Time

It is the start of a new week and it is also the start of a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges.  For the next two weeks they are looking to see projects which that say summer to you.

With the amount of rain we have seen the past few weeks I did contemplate making something involving Noah's Ark for my Design Team piece, but I decided to be optimistic and chose an image representing something which makes me think of summer in the English countryside ....... the feel of the sun on your face, the sound of swallows on the wing, the soft buzz of a bee and butterflies on the buddliea - which is sometimes known as the butterfly bush' because it attracts so many butterflies.


This lovely image of swallowtail butterflies on a buddlia is from Delicious Doodles and is called 'Butterflies on Buddliea'.  I coloured the image with F&C polychromos pencils, then I mounted it on silver mirri and Wisteria Wonder card.


The backing paper, card and sentiment stamp are from Stampin' Up.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon and flat backed gems are from my stash.

    What sublime colours and the tumble of flowers and pretty ribbon give the illusion of a beautiful sunburst which is just perfect on yet another dull, rainy day! xx

      Oh, will it ever stop raining? Everywhere is so soggy and the weeds seem to be on speed. No butterflies here today.

    Wow, gorgeous Dionne!! Love those butterflies and the colours are so amazing!! You are getting a lot of rain, and we are desperate for just a drop or two. The grass is turning yellow and the leaves are all starting to wither, not good!! Send me some of your rain! lol. hugs :)

      I cannot remember the last day it did not rain, it is too wet to get out into the garden and the weeds just get higher and higher. If only we could send some of it your way.

    Very nice card! The whole theme is perfect! You are very lucky for all that rain...over here the heat is scorching my boxwood bushes.
