Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

An Early Start

I have just put the finishing touches to almost 60 Christmas cards.  They are for a friend and, as you know, I am not the best person at getting my Christmas cards made before the event.  I therefore decided that it would be a really bad idea to be rushing to make her cards, as well as my own, in December.

It was important to keep these cards both reasonably light and flat, so that they do not incur additional postal charges.  Even the addition of a flat backed gem will make a card too thick for the standard rate.  On the other hand I wanted them to have a little dimension.

To make 60 cards in just a few days I needed to keep my design simple so I resorted to two of my favourite stamp sets from Stampin' Up - Every Blessing and Come to Bethlehem.

I used Night of Navy ink and cards to make the set of cards using the Come to Bethlehem stamp set,

and Cherry Cobbler ink and card to make the set of cards using the Every Blessing stamp set.

Of course, I put an insert into each card saying ... and a happy New Year.

I am now off to order replacement ink and card from Stampin' Up before I forget that I need it.

Have a great weekend.

    1. I took them over to my friend this afternoon and gave then to her, she was really pleased. I have promised to go back in the autumn to write out all of the envelopes for her (I plan to visit her many times before then of course).

  2. Oh my gosh Dionne, I am so jealous at the head start you have!! I dropped so many clients last year because I just didn't have time to do friends, family and client cards. I need to take your lead and do them in batches like this! Simple, yet still elegant and festive. Your friend will be thrilled. hugs :)

    1. But people would be so disappointed Pamellia if they did not receive one of you extra special cards. I am sure they would be very disappointed to receive something as plain as this from you.

      xx
