When I was a little girl, if you went to the cinema you got to see two films - usually a pretty awful B film and the main feature. During the intermission the usherettes came out with their trays of ice creams, Kia-Ora Orange Juice and sweets and, at my local cinema, a man entertained the audience playing a stunning, fully illuminated, 6 rank Compton Theatre Organ which would magically rise up out of the orchestra pit as he played some jolly tune. I may have only been small but seeing it was such an amazing experience I shall never forget it.
(I am probably breaking all sorts of copyright rules but I had to show you a photo of our local Compton Theatre Organ, as the man played, it changed colour. Magic!)

That pattern is absolutely gorgeous and yes I remember all that too lol

Thank you. I loved making this cardigan but writing this post and sharing those memories was bitter sweet. My dad use to take me to the cinema, it was a special time when it was just the two of us. I was allowed one thing from the usherettes tray and, as I ate my choc ice or sucked on my orange juice staw, he would tell me about the theatre organ and we would sing the songs together (if we knew them).
DeleteTake care Carol.
