For this challenge I have used Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' and 'Seasonal Sweaters' for the basic pattern. Julie often gives her designs a name but these plain patterns are just called basic dress and sweater patterns. As you can imagine, I found displaying the clothes to show them at their best very hard but I have a little manikin ornament, which turned out to be just the right size to show off my miniature creations.
When I first started making these clothes for my niece's Christmas elves I just randomly picked some of Julie's patterns, I gave no thought to a Christmas theme or 'twinning' the dresses and jumpers - that idea came a few days later. However, once I came up with the idea I did go back to my earlier creations and try to make them look like a pair and, where there was no obvious winter theme I added beads and charms to give them a more 'seasonal' feel. I have tried to do this for the dress and jumper in today's post.
I have used Stylecraft Alpaka Tweed Double Knit for these two items,
I added the little bow and several Christmas charms to this dress to give a little Christmas cheer to this basic pink design,
and I added gold bugle beads and a wreath charm to the taupe jumper.
Each dress and jumper is fastened at the back by a small button.
I shall be back again tomorrow with another dress and sweater. As I said before, I realise that this will soon become rather monotonous, after all there is only so much you can saw about a knitted dress and sweater and, as much as I love to read your comments, I will understand if you do not feel you have anything to say.

Love those tiny bugle beads, can only imagine how much patience they took and the wreath charm is just gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteHi Lisette. Thank you, I did struggle a bit with the bugle beads, they were really hard to keep perfectly straight, knitting is so much harder to embroider on to than linen, I suppose this is because it is stretchy and the holes are much further apart - between you and me, I had planned for more bugle beads but gave up on them.
DeleteI may have to re-stock Christmas charms before I start making my cards. Ha ha.
