The card I wanted to share with you today is one of my DT cards for the current 'Ribbon or Lace' Challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges.
This is another of my recent acquisitions from Delicious Doodles, this one is called 'Little Nut Tree'. I assume this was inspired by the English nursery rhyme of the same name:
I had a little nut tree,
Nothing would it bear
But a silver nutmeg
And a golden pear;
The King of Spain's daughter
Came to visit me,
And all for the sake
Of my little nut tree.
Her dress was made of crimson,
Jet black was her hair,
She asked me for my nutmeg
And my golden pear.
I said, "So fair a princess
Never did I see,
I'll give you all the fruit
From my little nut tree.
After colouring the image with F&C polychromos pencils, I mounted it on some Real Red and white card. I then embossed some more of the Real Red card and used it to cover the front of an A5 card. The gorgeous twinkly red ribbon is from the lovely people at Really Reasonable Ribbon.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Awwwww! This superb. That used to be one of my favourite rhymes when I was little and I still remember it word for word. The colouring is divine and I love the image against that rich red. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I grew up with a slightly different version of the rhyme ......

I danced over the water, I danced over the sea
But all the birds of the air couldn't catch me.

But a silver nutmeg and a golden pear.
