Sitting on the Fence - Day 21

Back in the summer, when I knitted jumpers and dresses for my niece and her elves I I trawled Pinterest and Ravelry looking for Christmas and winter knitting patterns I could use but eventually I ran out of designs, so I had to come up with a design of my own.   I cheated a little and borrowed elements and ideas from one or two f the other patterns. I have called my design 'Sitting on the Fence'.

The dress is made from soft 4 ply cotton, the detail of the robin was embroidered on after the dress was finished and a small black bead was added for the eye.

Not bad, even if I do say so myself.

The Last of the Nordic Snowflakes - Day 20

Today my stunning model is wearing the last of the Nordic style of snowflake/

Today's design is by JulieWilliams but they did not start out as a dress. I have adapted these Nordic Snowflakes from a tiny Christmas stocking pattern. The dress pattern is taken from Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' pattern.

The dress is knitted in soft 4 ply cotton.

He Rocks in the Tree Tops all Day Long - Day 19

Yes, it is Rockin' Robin today.  Robins are a favourite of my husband, nothing says Christmas to him more than chirpy little robins on Christmas cards.

This dress came from Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' booklet - the chart for the robins is called ' Hopping Robins'.  Her pattern books are full of helpful tips and detailed descriptions of all the tricky stitches, idea for people like me ie the not very experienced knitter.

I added a small glass bead to each eye and stitched on the beaks by hand.

Sack Racing

Sunday night our elves organised a sack race with the toys.  It looks like they had a great time 

Louis looks like his going to win by a fraction ( he also seems to be the crowds favourite to win as they are holding up "Louis" banners and flags ) 

You can almost hear them shouting his name, I am surprized they did not wake up the family.

It's neck and neck between him and the snowman, I am afraid his girlfriend will only come in a poor third.

Who are you shouting for?

It looks like they have not fallen out after all, they are still holding hands.

I wonder what they are up to this evening.

Tiny Flowers - Day 18

Are you ready for Christmas yet?  Just a week to go and I still have lots to do but at least I have finished making my cards and got them into the post.  Phew!

Yesterday we had large flowers and today it is tiny flowers or 'Tiny Buds' as the pattern is called.  This is another of my personal favourites, designed by the talented SuzieMarie and all of her patterns are available free from Ravelry (I have included a link to this one above).

I knitted the dress in soft 4 ply cotton and added a little knitted bow.

Ahoy There Me Hearties!

Saturday night our little house guests got up to no end of mischief and in the process managed to loose their pirate treasure.  (Who knew elves had pirate treasure, I know I didn't.)

They left Ryan a note asking him to help them find it, it took Ryan almost all day to recover:

60 Silver Coins

5 Silver Cannon Balls

and 1 Large Gold Coin

Louis was wearing a rather splendid pirates hat with matching eye patch along with his navy monkey jacket.

And avast ye, if his girlfriend isn't dressed as his mate .............

Large Flowers - Day 17

How are your Christmas preparations coming along, it is getting very close now but I think I am at last starting to see the wood for the trees.  I seem to be doing everything last minute this year, this weekend I finished making my cards and got them into the post.  Still no sign of decorations but at least I have started wrapping and there is still a week to get up in the attic for the decorations!

Back to my Advent dresses, today I have a very festive dress featuring a a floral design, albeit very stylised flowers.

The dress is another of Suzymarie's variations of the Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' pattern.  This design is called 'Red Christmas Dress', you can find the chart on Ravelry.  If you look closely you can see that I have added a small gold bead to the centre of what I assume are poinsettias.
