There is a new challenge starting at Crafty Boots Challenges today. The theme for the next two weeks is 'Butterflies and Bees', this theme was chosen by my good friend and the very talented Lisette, aka Mrs Beez. If you have ever seen any of Lisette's work, you would have discovered that she has something of an obsession for both butterflies and bees, so it came as no surprize when she chose this theme.
Over the years I have made countless projects featuring butterflies and even one or two with bees. So why is it, when I really want to make something special, that my mind went completely blank? In the end, I resorted to a tour of Pintrest seeking inspiration.
I was a little anxious before starting this card because it is somewhat outside my comfort zone but, once I got down to it, I really enjoyed making it.
I wanted to make this card with just one colour - plus white, although I did use a couple of different sheets of white card (a plain, a hammered and a linen look) to try to create a contrast.
I used a sheet of Stampin' Up Raspberry Ripple card for the mount and the matching colour ink to distress the edges of the butterflies, flowers and leaves. I dropped the butterfly bodies directly onto the ink pad to get the strongest possible colour.
I added small pink jeweled brads to the centre of the flowers and butterflies.
Oh, by the way the flourish and leaf die is from Cheery Lynn and the butterfly dies are Memory Box. Finally, the flowers are a Martha Stuart punch.
Please take a look at the inspirational projects made by the rest of the Crafty Boots Challenges design team.
Good luck with your entry.
